2020 MDX Hybrid Recall-software update

I called Acura today for the renewal of AcuraLink. I was told that a Recall has been issued for the 2020 MDX Hybrid. I quickly browsed here and found no similar post. I posted over here in case some owners don't have the information.

I see nothing from Acura on any safety recalls. You have any more specifics? Is the recall related to the AcuraLink?

I called in to make a appointment today to take in my 2018 Hybrid for the tail light recall and was told they would be doing a software update as well. When I drop it off tomorrow ill ask the service advisor about it.

It is a safety recall. I think it is something related to the transmission. I have already made an appointment with my dealer.

I took my 2019 MDX Sport Hybrid for Recall 20-039. This is a software "update" related to the main computer related to the car's computer generating error codes related to the Odd (1,3,5) gear selection.
Took about 30 minutes to do the fix.
Here is the detailed information:

I did the TSB fix on my 19 MDX hybrid with +17,000 miles during my B16 service last week. I didn't notice any issues with the 7DCT even with 6 +1000 mile road trips under her belt. The service manager said the update would help prevent any future issues. Took my 18 RLX hybrid in the same day to do the same TSB for those vehicles.

***UPDATE***

I did the MDX B16 service+7DCT update and took a 1600 mile round-trip to North/South rims of the Grand Canyon and Sedona mini-vacation a few days later with 4 adults. Didn't notice anything different about the already smooth shifting 7DCT or hybrid function during the trip. My fuel avg was 25.82 mpg the entire trip with the mileage/gal method (even with ACC set to 75-80 mph 90% of the time and 7500 ft to 9000 ft mountain climbs to north/south rims). The only things that "might" have been different (or just related to the driving conditions) are:
  • On a few occasions, the 7DCT would hold 6th gear longer and wouldn't upshift even with paddles at 70-75 mph. Increasing speeds to +75 mph would sometimes engage 7th gear. My guess was any slight incline and +7000 feet was a lot of work for the 3.0L to handle without a little DCT help. It could also be 3.0L VCM+6th gear working together also? M.I.D. displayed mpg avg indicator never took a nose dive when it was in 6th gear.
  • Seems to get a touch better overall mpgs after the software update. My M.I.D. mpg display always over estimates compared to my mileage/gal calculations. The M.I.D. was now showing 27-29 mpg in the M.I.D. between fill-ups on the interstate with the ACC set to 80 mph compared to 25-27 mpg by hand calculations.
  • Didn't notice any changes in EV operation or battery charge levels in hwy or city driving. Under 20% climbing up the mountain and +90% driving down the mountain, and +/- mid-range power levels on level ground. The instant TQ of the 3 electric motors really comes in handy at Flagstaff's 7000 ft elevation. I always keep it in Sport IDS mode.
We are now starting to get a little chill in the morning air and that was when my hybrid was seeing 22 mpg before the software update below 40-45 degree temps. Hopefully, the update will bump up the mpgs at those temps also.
