2019 MDX A-Spec / 2019 Honda Pilot Black Edition

I was in a Honda dealer today and they had a 2019 Honda Pilot Black Edition. This is one nice vehicle and get this, it has a wireless charger for the cell phone, which the RDX and MDX don't have. It is not as luxurious as the MDX for sure, but boy is it good. One wonders if the Pilot may take some sales from the MDX, especially when the MDX is likely 2 years away from the redesign.

It always stymies me why Honda gets the new features and models before Acura.

One would think Acura should have the latest and greatest first and then trickle down to Honda.

Just my 2 cents.

FYI, I am in the market for the MDX but I will test drive he Pilot as well.

This is one of the major reasons why the Acura brand has been trying so hard, but still failed to become a true luxury brand such as BMW, Lexus, and MB.

It is because the econo Honda products have too much common features borrowed from the "Premium" Acura products.

Lots of gadgets, but the one thing still lacking in the Pilot. Comfortable seats. Those cheezy flip up arm rests turned us off so much we were willing to spend a few more dollars to get the MDX comfortable seats.

I do not own an MDX, but I almost had an RDX, but ended up with a Pilot for my wife. I seriously thought I would get used to them flippin little captain chair armrests, but can't do it. You are correct- they are cheezy and should be banished!

I'm here lurking to figure out what I want to buy for me.

When we were seriously looking at Pilot and DW was complaining I did a web search and found a company that makes wide arm rests. They had them in two widths as I remember, 3 and 4 inch. Might look them up and see if they could fit your needs.

I’ve owned a 2018 Pilot Touring AWD, a couple of Accords (years ago) and a CR-V.

All mechanically excellent. All loud as all get out when on the road. I hit a deer in the Pilot and turned it into a 2018 MDX Tech. Just this week, turned the ‘18 into a ‘20 MDX SH-AWD Tech.

Completely different driving experience between the Pilot and MDX.

The Honda Pilot looks way too much like a minivan.
