2018 Acura MDX rust on body
Hi folks,
I purchased a new 2018 Acura MDX on December 31st 2018.
However recently I noticed that there is a rusting area the size of a penny right above the read passenger side door and below the top. I'll attach a picture when I can before end of day today.
I showed it to the service associate and was told that Acura does not cover that. I wrote to customer service and the lady earlier said that Acura will cover 'substantial' portion and to reach out to the dealer. I wanted to get specifics from her and she kept saying that the dealership will tell me the exact percentage and that it will be substantial amount of the cost the bodyshop assess at.
I reached out to dealership again - and was told Acura will cover 50% and I will need to pay 50% - and that the body shop invoice is 850 odd and it could be more if I wanted it buffed and painted - I'm like who the heck does not want the pain buffed and evened out?
Why am I having to go through all these loops and not get an actual amount ? Has anyone had any success with getting a rusted body fixed - and paid through warranty? I was told this is not covered by warranty and that they are trying to do me a 'favor' because it is my first Acura... is that true? Or is it 'salesman;' comment?
Sorry for posting so many questions as my first.

Here is the info I found on the standard warranty link on Acura website - They claim road debris hit it - but isn't it extremely easy to claim everything is road debris whenever there is rust on outer body/surface?
6. SURFACE CORROSION WARRANTY.
Four years or 80 ,000 Km, whichever comes first.
Surface corrosion is defined as corrosion affecting the readily visible surface area of any components of the vehicle’s body. It does not include the vehicle underbody, external damage to paint or plated surfaces or corrosion caused by stone chips or other impacts.
This warranty guarantees that the surface of new Acura’s body will be free from any readily visible corrosion for a period of four years/80,000 km from the date of first registration. Additionally, this warranty guarantees that a new Acura will be free from any paint related defects for four years/80,000 Km.
Please note, to retain full warranty coverage, body panels replaced due to accident or damage, must be genuine Acura parts or Acura-approved parts. Also, paint damage caused by road debris, acid rain, tree sap, bird droppings and industrial fallout are not covered by this warranty.

Rust on a fairly new vehicle is out of the ordinary. You will have a hard time proving to Acura that the rust was not the result of something hitting the vehicle and causing a blemish all the way through each coat of primer/paint. You may be better off with accepting Acura meeting you half way as you say they have agreed to. The warranty clearly states they don't have to give you squat if the rust appears to be the result of a road hazard and not faulty craftsmanship. Harsh, but reality.

We had this rust spot repaired under the B2B warranty last year on our 2015. It’s on the driver door, in the jamb area. Dealer had to send photos to Acura for prior approval.
You are mentioning KMs instead of miles, what country are you in? Warranties can vary by country.
