2016 MDX Headlight Problem

I just got this car a couple days ago. I quickly realized that the headlights were not turning on automatically at night and the sensitivity setting was not showing in the settings option. I did some research and narrowed it down to the light and wiper sensor on the front windshield as being disconnected.

i plugged the cable back into place and started the car. it worked perfect. The following day i went to the store went in and came out and when i started the car, the headlight problem warning came on. I have tried to disconnect the sensor and back in and no luck. The high beams work and DRL does too. But the headlights won’t turn on auto or manually. Currently I don’t drive it at night. I have no problem taking it in to the dealership but I want to see if it light be a simple fix. Currently the sensor on top of windshield is plugged in. And at night when I unlock the car, the side markers flash but the night time lights do not come off. Not sure if it matters.

That's very odd that the sensor was disconnected in the first place though...You might have blown the headlight fuse and/or the previous owner knew there was a short in the circuit so unplugged the light sensor so the lights wouldn't turn on automatically. This is purely speculation but you're going to have to start probing around to see if you're getting power

so I opened the fuse box in engine compartment, and toggled the little wire and they started to turn on and off. If I held it at a certain angle they stayed on. Also am I missing any other fuses or relays? Thanks for the help I’m new to this.

You know that fuse box cover that you're holding? It points to every single fuse and relay your car has... I think the previous owner did something funky, that wire bridging the fuse and the relay is not OEM.. perhaps the relay went bad and instead of being a responsible adult, they just tried to Macguyver it.. I don't have the fuse box diagram handy but take a look at diagram you have to identify what those relays are powering

Yeah that’s what I thought. Here is the image of the box. I tried to search what the top and bottom relay mean with the headlight symbol but no luck and I don’t have the owners manual. Did you notice the bottom relay is missing? Should I start by swapping them?

I have reviewed the fuse section but still can’t find info on the relays on the pic or right side of the box. Where can I find this info?

I’m referring to the cartridge type fuse. I cannot find the info on that and the link you sent me doesn’t either.
