I believe that. When I was negotiating price on my MDX, it reminded me of myself once trying to buy a odyssey a while ago. They laughed at me tying to negotiate price and they only had one odyssey EX left at the whole dealership. I am glad that I didn't have to pay markup price on my MDX. Whew!

Good review and comparison, however the article stated the BMW X5 doesn't come with seven seat capability. It does, the third row is an option, and arguably not well designed. Still the MDX is a better value.

I really like the current MDX, I also think it can put up a solid fight vs the German competition. My one major gripe is the lack of more powerful engine. The current 3.5 is a solid engine, don't get me wrong, just that I would have loved to see a performance variant with a possible combo of this engine and an electric motor, or even turbo charging this engine. Or for the first time in a long time or ever, producing a V8 variant of this engine in a passenger vehicle.

Yes it is silly to have a performance version of a 7 seater family suv, but tell that to mercedes, audi, and even dodge.

Agree.

A high performance trim of the MDX, with a 320-350hp twin-turbo V6, active suspension, and thinner/wider tires would definitely help to boost the Acura image, since like you just said, Audi/BMW/MB all have one.

oooooohhhh I like your thinking! But I was thinking more in the neighborhood of a 400hp variant. Something like the 290hp motor plus a 110 horsepower and 150tq electric motor. That would probably get even better fuel economy than the regular one and be well over a couple seconds faster to 60.

They also need an adjustable suspension system with thick sway bars and sport seats. Acura would probably sell many that way.

It's gonna be tough to get the 400hp for the MDX, considering that the hybrid flagship sedan from Acura, even with the latest engine/motor technology, is still below 380hp.

I think if they tuned the engine the same way they tuned the RLX (so 310hp and 277tq) and then added a little larger electric motor and battery for the hybrid tech in the trunk (which would aid in the weight split). They could then easily get to 400hp or more.

Then slap on some FAT tires and 20 inch wheels, FAT sway bars, adjustable suspension, sports seats, and BAM, you have a beast!

With the new Honda CEO at the helm, who seems to pay little attention to the Acura branch, a high performance MDX or high performance anything has even less chance of happening.

He's been president for like 10 minutes - let him sit down first.

And the guy is waiting to buy a car until the CTR hits Japan. I know it's symbolic but I think the understands the value of high-po cars AND I think we'll see quite a bit of fun stuff from Honda/Acura in the next few years.
