2015 MDX wont go from "D" to "S" mode?

2015 MDX wont go from "D" to "S" mode?
Original owner of a 2015 MDX, 106,000 miles. It has probably been 18 months since I last tried to shift from Drive to Sport mode. Even when I pull the release lever hard, it wont move from Drive to S mode. The car drive smooth, the paddle shifters work as it should. Could this be the transmission Control module causing this issue? I have not tried disconnecting the battery or stepping on the Gas Pedal for 30 seconds to do a reset. Was wondering if anyone has ever experienced this problem???
