Hey AcuraZine,

My dad recently bought a 2014 (Black) Acura MDX with Advanced Technology for $23,000 with 73,000 miles and he absolutely loves it and said its the best car he ever owned. My mom also loves it and wants one for herself in white. We found one a hour away that is a 2015 with Advanced Technology for $24,000 with 80,000 miles. The carfax shows it was on Ontario, Canada.... any thoughts on this?

i personally dont like mileage being that high and we were satisfied with just a tech model. it depends on what you really want in the car. want all the safety tech and parking sensors then go for an advance, but we are very happy with just the blind spot monitoring and warning from the tech alone. since we picked tech instead of advance, we got a CPO 14 mdx tech with 42k miles for 31k out the door. even without getting a CPO, having lower mileage means less to spend on for bigger maintenance items and better residual value in the future. say you put 40k miles on the car. with 80k already, you will be looking at selling a 140k car, whereas a 40-50k car you will be selling a 90k mile car.

I remember about 5 years ago, a dealer around Dallas was severely reprimanded for selling a used MDX to an older man while his Explorer was in service, IDK what year the MDX was, but it was a 2G and atleast 2 years old with like 60K miles for $63K (usd) and over $20K+ more than it was worth. A lawsuit fallowed and that dealer lost Acura sponsorship, I think. Havent been able to find the story, but it happened in like spring 2013 or 2014.
