2015 MDX, new AGM, 12V charging error warning

My wife had a 2015 MDX with SHAWD. The battery has been showing signs of weakening and last week at Costco getting fuel, it finally wouldn't start. Granted it was in the mid-90s here in NC. I went over there and tried to jump it but it just kept turning over and not firing. We got all kinds of errors (obviously) but I left it for a few minutes and it finally fired up. Bought a battery, got it home and went to replace the battery. It (ended up being the wrong one - a 34 and the posts were backward so I cleaned the posts on hers off (the negative post had a lot of corrosion mounded up around it, white deposits), greased them with dielectric grease, charged it and it started/ran fine for several days until I got the correct battery. I replaced the battery with a DieHard AGM (off Amazon). I made sure to charge it with a NOCO Genius charger before I installed it and after a day or so, it's not giving an error "12-volt charging system error". It drives fine.

It's at the dealer now getting a recall done and a couple of other things looked at including this problem. My guess is they are going to try and sell me one of their batteries. It has 46k on it but delivered in December of 2014 so they are saying it's out of warranty.

Any ideas/help?

Update: Dealer says the alternator is bad and wants basically $1,000 to fix it. I feel that's insanely high.

Might be worth a shot asking them to cover it under a goodwill repair since you are so close to the warranty period. I've had decent luck with that.

I opened a case with Acura Customer Relations and they decided to cover it.
