2014 Used MDX Recommend?
Looking for some thoughts/opinions. My wife currently has a '10 RDX that she loves, (except for the bad quality leather, especially armrest). It handles well for an SUV and peppy. We are adding our second child, and she has been itching to get a car with additional space. We started to look at new cars that were 7-8 seats, such as the Chevy Traverse/Volkswagen Atlas/Buick Enclave/Honda Pilot, but although nice she has not fallen in love with any of them. Appointed with leather and the features I'd come to expect from a vehicle, the MSRP on most of these were between $47-$50k, quite pricey for a non luxury brand. Furthermore, none lease that well, and I've always been told it's much better financially to own a car 5-6 years, then to lease every 3 years. My wife does not want to keep any of those new models I listed above more than 3-4 years.
Therefore, I started to think financially it may make the most sense to trade her 2010 RDX in for a 2014/2015 MDX. She gets to stay within the Acura brand which she likes and gets the additional seats she wants. I understand the 3rd row is not adequate for adults, but should work well for at least 4-5 years as the children grow up. At that time, we can then re-evaluate what's on the market. It seems financially this should also save a good amount of money in the long term. That being said, for those with a 2014/2015 MDX, are there any issues with reliability/longetivity of the car? Expensive repairs/transmission issues etc? Annoyances about the car, etc? Thanks!

i bought the 2014 MDX Advance brand new, the only issue i'm complaining is the transmission with "judder" when up shift, it was under TSB from dealer, basically the dealer will replace your transmission fluid 3 times and update software, that fixed the issue in short term, after approx. 13k miles that "judder" came back, so now what i do is change transmission fluid every 2 engine oil change which approx. every 13-14k miles for transmission.
other then this i don't have other complain.

I also bought a 2014 Advance SH-AWD brand new (traded up from a 2008 RDX, in fact) and have not experience the transmission judder issue. I think you and your wife will be happy with the vehicle overall--it does some things much better than the RDX, and is of course more roomy all around. It is not as sporty, but you must know that already. And I was disappointed in some of the cheapness of the interior materials and especially the painfully slow touch-screen interface. But it is an Acura, meaning well-built and reliable overall, and I can't think of a good reason not to recommend you trade up as planned.
