2014 MDX: Guess what it doesn't have!
While we just keep getting shot down by Acura, model after model as it seems, you would expect it to tapper off at some point and for things to come back around for us and them, especially since they just got a hefty 2 Billion from Honda. Nooope.
2014 Acura MDX DOES not have Dual Exhaust. Like the ILX, it will have a one exit-only hidden exhaust.
That's what I can tell so far. A combination of pictures from not-so great angles show one muffler on the right side and nothing on the left where one is to expect on to be. While I'm sure that's not going to affect sales, it sure as h3ll bothers me! Why? Oh I don't know.. Something about symmetry and my OCD.
Now I could be wrong. I don't have 20/20 vision but I can see through a car's camo with ease(body lines and creaes). Tell me what you think/ see.
Look at the reflection off the wet tarmac in this photo. Only one exhaust pip going to the right side on the rear.
Another from behind
Here you can only see one tip
I find this all odd, as the RLX and RDX both have Dual exhaust, but hidden tips. I wonder if anyone will take a RDX rear exhaust system and try to put it on the MDX? Fabrication will most likely be needed, but I say its do ale. I'd actually like to try it myself. While at it, remove the reflectors, treat surrounding area with heat treatment material/ fire retardants and re-rout the exhuast exits to them. Same goes for the RLX (though the positioning of the reflectors and their shape will make it look awkward.. oh well) and people have already taken up on my idea for cutting a hole in the bumper for their exhausts.
Can't wait to start seeing people getting these and modding them some here and there.

OP, the MDX exhaust probably splits closer to the rear of the vehicle. I don't see why Acura would not have dual outlets on a vehicle of the MDX caliber.
I disagree with that statement. Exposed exhaust tips show the sport factor of a car. Hidden tips are a weird trend right now. Hyundai Volester has a unique exposed muffler tip design which makes it look 10 times sportier than it really is. It's a great design and style factor.

I have noticed that with the new models. I wonder if it'll be the same for the TLX.
Anywho, I like the looks of the current MDX (MMC). Don't get me wrong, the 3G MDX looks great, I'm just a bigger fan of the 2G MDX.

As noted in another thread: fog lights are superfluous with headlights on, besides has anyone driven in "reduced visability conditions" with Jewel-Eyes?

In Search Of Sunrise....
A captains chair option would be nice for those who prefer it...
Also, the exposed cup holder in the center stack just looks cheap and unfinished. Needs a cover.

BTW - the new Corvette does not have fog lights either. With new lighting technologies the fog lights are becoming superfluous.
15 years from now people will be talking about those old cars that have fog lights and the fact that you needed them with those "old" lighting systems.

This is incredible! to complain about exhaust vents, and LED lighting..None of these should be of any issue in the long run.. we need better MPG, better engine tech, to compete with the likes of Audi Q7 or the Jeep grand Cherokee.. Come on.. These things are trivial..hell the nissan pathfinder has more tech..

One thing I hope they added is a true power tail gate. Our 2012 does have fully automatic open/close if you use the dash switch or the key FOB.
However, if trying to open it from outside you have to press and hold the release switch. You must manually start to open it before the struts take the weight of the tailgate and finish opening it.
Sounds like they may have at least added the rear sensors which are lacking on the previous generation. Those were an accessory item which sells for over $425.00 through the parts department. Labor charge to install them were pretty steep also. I'll be installing them myself once I find a decent price on the kit.

I never liked the exposed exhausts on any of my cars, just another thing to wash (more so on turbocharged cars, less so on regular gasoline cars).
Given how all of Acura's "dual exhausts" are really just single exhausts with a splitter down the line, there is no "performance" benefit, either. Purely vanity. If all people wanted was some exposed chrome on the back (the only thing most "visible dual exhausts" are good for, anyways), the 3rd gen Acura MDX, they'll be happy to hear, comes with two. The chrome tips reflect red on the inside, and don't spit putrid engine waste from their innards.
Seriously, I'd rather Acura spend the money not wasted on tailpipes and mufflers on a cup holder cover, or something to that regard.
EDIT: a standard rear 12V port, would be nice, as well. Going up to Tech/Ent just to get a rear charger port is rather sizeable omission.

Fog lights are far from superfluous particularly if you drive country roads or in bad weather. They are also priceless to see deer before they decide to cross in front of your car.
