19-20 MDX fuel pump recall

Saw this recall for 19-20 MDXs (3.5L and hybrids) for the fuel pump assembly that might have a low pressure fuel pump failure (interior impeller can crack and stall vehicle). Anyone get a notification on this yet?

From the body of the pdf:
************************************************** ***********************************
Total number of potentially affected vehicles: 628,124 (around 20 different Acura and Honda models)
...
...
...
Acura MDX 2019-2020 manufactured between 10/31/2018 to 09/13/2019: 16,372 total
Acura MDX Sport Hybrid 2019-2020 manufactured between 11/15/2018 to 07/16/2019: 761 total
...
...
...
Percentage of affected vehicles that contain the defect: 100%

I got notification via AcuraLink that my '19 MDX Advance was subject to the recall. I think my mfg date was 12/18, but will need to confirm.

What's interesting is that there's a "stop sale" order on the effected cars - which means if mine were on a dealer lot they couldn't sell it - but I can continue to drive it. Fun times.

I double-checked my Acuralink and no notification on my 19 MDX hybrid. Sent an email to my local Acura dealership this morning to see what information they have on the recall. It took Acura almost 90 days to fix my 08 RDX for the Takata air bag issue a few years ago.

My dealership emailed me back and said my VIN wasn't part of the recall. My MDX hybrid falls right in the middle of the affected manufacturing dates of Feb/2019 and purchased at the end of March/2019. I might have to give it some time to see if it pops up later.

Anyone can just go to Owners.acura.com and enter your VIN in the Safety Recall section. My 20 Advance AWD assembled in May of 20 was not affected.

There were millions of Honda and Acura vehicles that required new airbags years ago. It took Honda’s supplier (Takata) months to ramp up and get airbags out to Honda Parts Centers around the country and then to dealers. Many of those vehicles affected still do not have their airbags replaced.
Not sure who the fuel pump supplier is but it wouldn’t surprise me if it will be May/June until some are available.

I also have a 2019 Hybrid but have no clue when it was manufactured. Where can you see that information?

There should be a sticker in the bottom of driver's door jam area near where the tire info. Mine has a date of 02/19 in the top upper right hand corner. My Acura service manage sent me a vehicle information sheet and it showed my MDX was manufactured on 2/25/19.

I keyed in my VIN into the Acura recall site and confirmed that my car is subject to the recall (made in 3/19). The site had "Schedule appointment" button. I did so for a dealer near me for today.
The service person acknowledged the recall but said they had no parts and no idea hen they were going to get them as Acura had not informed them...

Strange how my 19 MDX hybrid was manufactured on 2/19 and nothing pops up?

I had the fuel pump recall fix on my 19 MDX Sport Hybrid. Dropped off at 8am and picked up same day at 3pm. I had zero issues with original fuel pump motor (purchase new in Mar/2019 and with +55,000 miles at recall repair).

Not a lot of details on the service ticket since it was a free recall repair:

Recall 24-006 Fuel Pump, replaced in tank fuel pump motor
PN: 06170-TZ5-305 fuel pump kit (not sure if 3.5L MDX has the same part number)

I assumed they needed to access the fuel pump under the back seat and I had a whiff of gasoline smell inside the cabin after the repair.

From what I am told, they have to drop the tank. My dealer tells me they want less than 1/4 tank of gas in the car. Also this takes about 4 hours. I'm on the schedule for both fuel pump and motor inspection. On that what I'm told they drop the pan, pull all the bearings, photograph them and sent the photos to Acura. This takes around 5-6 hours. So far about 25% are getting new motors. The other 75% get put back together, new bearings, or new bearings and crank shaft. It all depends on what they find in the oil.

I received the recall notice for my 2019 MDX Sport Hybrid at the end of last week. I haven’t made an appointment yet with the dealership.

I did get a letter about my 19 MDX Sport Hybrid fuel pump recall this week. I received my fuel pump notice for my 18 RLX Sport Hybrid several months ago. I was in for a service at Acura back in March and double-check with the service manage about the details of the fuel pump recall and both of my vehicles were already on their spreadsheet. He had to scan over 5-6 pages to find my vehicles and he was expecting mid-summer before receiving parts.

I had my X in at the dealership a few weeks ago for the rod bearing recall and they put me on the list and ordered what was needed for the fuel pump recall. I was told probably a few months before they get everything in and have me bring it back in. So based on that, it should be Sept, but I am going to say probably Oct.
