Handling difference with 18" or 19" and ET55 or lower ET
Hi guys,
my new black CU2 is coming. I need new shoes for it. Stock wheels are those:
18"x8 ET55 with 235/45 R18 tire
One very important thing - I don't want to lower my car, I don't want to have hard ride. We have bad roads, this car should be comfortable.
The problem is, that it is very difficult to find any good 18x8 ET55 rim. Since almost everybody here have lower ET than 55, I want to ask:
1) how the lower ET on your car affected handling/performance? Any advantages/disadvantages from stock?
And since many of you have 19" rims
2) how the 19" on 235/40 tire is compared with 18" on 235/45 tire? Performance/comfort?
Of course lower ET and larger rim look better. But I don't want sacrifice much comfort and I don't want to drive my car worse, or damage it because of wrong rims. What solution would you recommend to me? Thank you

Ride comfort, handling, etc. are all subjective so relying on other people's opinions before spending a lot of cash could just end in tears.
Why not try fitting a set of 10mm spacers, then you will know exactly how the car drives with ET45 wheels. It could save you the price of a set of wheels if you don't like the way it feels.
Staying with 18s will guarantee that your ride comfort remains unchanged, whereas fitting 19s WILL degrade the comfort as there will be less 'give' in the sidewalls. The lower sidewall will also leave your rims open to damage if your roads suffer from craters.
