Front Sway Bar?

Is anyone going to be releasing a front sway bar anytime soon? I don't see a point in purchasing the rear if there isn't an option for the front?

as of right now, no one has released anything or there's no word on when. I would like ones that Hotchkis makes for the other cars, that stiffens the car like by 200% or something.

There's one on there stock but it doesn't seem very rigid.

A much fatter rear anti-sway bar will need to match with an upgraded front anti-sway bar. Just think of the crazy understeer with just the front.

Maybe more "neutral" steer, since the car understeers from the factory.

The 2nd gen TSX bone-stock handling characteristic, like most cars, is mild understeer. For increased performance, you would want a neutral handling car. Most people get the upgraded rear to "increase oversteer" or to make the car more "neutral" handling. My last car was the 1st gen TSX (CL9) and I upgraded the rear anti-sway. The understeer was greatly reduced when I was cornering hard, I was able to to cause the rear to drift slightly if I snap the wheel at the right time. So, long story short, you would want to upgrade the rear first, then go from there. You'll also find out the car will not handle as smooth on undulating roads with an upgraded bar.

From what I've heard, the front is adequate but a revised rear is where most improvement was needed for the reasons listed above. It's interesting how combinations of hollow or solid bars do different things on different applications.

An upgraded rear bar sure will increase some a$$-waggle on different road transitions like coming out of a driveway or, say, a parking lot ramp and onto the road.

I had some aftermarket spherical ball end links left over from a previous car and I installed them on the front sway bar with good results. They are too short to try on the rear but I'm happy with the result of front only. I do seem to get less undesteer and the front end seems more controlled.

I had also tried these on my last car (JDM DC5R) but it added understeer.

I am not looking for a sway to help with the driving characteristics of my car. This is not a drivers car, to me. I need a sway to help with uneven road surfaces since the tein basic coilovers are junk on the lowest setting.

so there's definitely a less understeer and more traction after RSB upgrade? is it really "not smooth" with uneven and wavey road surface? because where i live, the roads are never really smooth

btw i've already got the tein SS installed, wonder how they'd go together.

Briefly, IMHO, there's two different schools of thought for a (street)suspension setup. Soft springs and BIG ass bars are one way, and the opposite is another. (High rate springs rendering big bars as a duplication of effort, essentially.)

As with anything, there can be a trade-off depending on expectations and intended use.

I prefer a reasonable progressive spring and an improved (but not overkilled) revised rear bar on this daily driver.

It will still be smooth in a straiight line, Euro, but you will feel it in weird funky angled transitions.

yeah thanks for that, i guess it can't be much worse than my coilover set up at the moment, going through bumpy angled transitions is quite funky but i guess in a good way haha.

A rear bar change can yield some fun surprising results on a FF car. The first Comptech rear sway/tie I did on a 99 Si resulted in a fire hydrant salute (lifted the rear tire off the ground in a hard turn) on an otherwise well setup car. (Pro-Kits and Koni Yellows).

If I'm your hero, you're in deep $h1t.
