Notice how in picture #1 the spokes GO INTO the wheel, whereas in picture #2 the spokes meet the wheel (flat)?

Is that due to the 0.5" difference in width? Or is there something else at play?

Appreciate the help for those who are familiar with the wheel

Regardless of size, they sure look like two different wheels to me.

width is at play here.

the wider the wheel, the more concave it will be!

Yup I get that.

My question is going from 8.5 (first pic) to 9 (second pic), changes how the spoke hits the wheel that drastically?

rpf1 never go concave. they're only either convex or flat.

i had rpf1 (18x9 et35) on my 09 accord and i regret selling it since i want those for my tsx now.

These should be on my tsx now

You're right. By concave I meant flat face I guess I should've said step lip instead of concave.
