18x8.5 +38
Hi, I've tried researching this quite a bit and haven't found much.
I'm able to get hold of some 18x8.5 +38 wheels off my friend's TL for cheap. These will be going on a 2011 wagon.
I want to be able to fit them with 225/45/18's, but I do not want to roll fenders or run additional neg camber via a camber kit. I don't mind the natural neg. camber from lowering it.
Am I barking up the wrong tree with that size? Quick math tells me that these wheels are about 1" more outboard spaced than stock.
The superstreet/Honda tuning car has these specs. They rolled fenders....but I think they used camber kits to return the wheels closer to factory spec?
Again...I plan on leaving the camber natural to about a 1.5 - 2" drop via KW ST coilovers.
Thanks in advance!

This will work just fine. I ran 18x9.5 +45 with 235/40/18 tires last season and did not need to roll fenders. You should be absolutely fine. If you want, you can probably even run a bit wider rubber if you need, like 235s. I suspect no problems.
And awesome coilovers! I did not know KW suspension made coilovers for the TSX. Must cost a pretty penny though.

KW has made V1/V2's for the TSX for a while. They just started making the ST line. They're actually very affordable. They're on sale right now at a vendor who I'm not sure is a sponsor of this site lol. They don't have damper adjustments...but...I'm sure they're set up nicely from the factory. It took me a year or so to even change the factory settings on my S2000's V3's.
The wagon is my GF's new car. I want to lower it slightly and put wheels on it. The stock wheels make it look a little clumsy haha.
Thanks for the help, though. Do you have any pictures of your setup?
18x8.5 +38 is about .25" less agressive than 19x9.5 +45. So that's good news that yours fit!

Also...how many miles do you have on your Tein SB's? I have SA's on my 1G with *almost* 30k on them. I've have a friend that works for a parts retailer....so I can get the ST's CHEEEAAP. I was thinking of getting them for my 1G and selling my Street Advances just to try them out.
We'll see.

They are a tad on the softer side. I mean going from stock to TEIN SB is a huge difference no doubt. I hug corners, feel bumps on the roads, etc. But relative to coilover setups it's more on the softer side. Don't get the SBs if you plan on slamming your car or something. I've bottomed out maybe 2 times now, and I'm not even that low (you've probably seen the pics in my build thread by now). Check the TEIN site for the spring rates. I can't remember off the top of my head, but that may be the only thing you should worry about if dampening is of no concern.
Good luck!
