Spiders in Engine

Hey guys, I just bought my '12 TSX SE the other day and I just noticed that there are spiders hanging out and making webs from the engine splash tray to my garage floor (same thing on the mid section of the exhaust). Anyone else had trouble with these guys? I only have 200 miles on the car and never had this on my Mk5 Rabbit. I'm gonna take it in to the dealer as they owe me a "car prep" detailing and mention the new friends I made. Just curious if anyone else has had this happen to them. Thanks!

Spiders love our car. I have spiders making webs on my trunk handle, window visors, and in my car! One time I walked into a web and another time when my front windshield was filled. I think the spider inside my car died cause I haven't found webs in about 5 months but my friend said she saw it crawl on her leg and it was big a yellow :x

I don't think it's the dealerships fault or anything just plan bad luck. But if you can get a free detail then why not lol

Yeah I get spiders that like to chill in the sides of my door then jump at you at like 6:00am when you are half awake.

if your car is still under warranty, you can ask the dealer to remove the spider option since they never told you they added it.

all kidding aside, i have a spider problem too. i once saw a big web between the back of my car the the car behind me. it's scary how much spiders can do over night.

Yeah I did that the first day I got the car cause I thought how cool I'd be if I tilted the moon roof. Gonna go attempt to deal with them myself...can't stand the thought of them multiplying and spreading into my garage and then my house. lol thanks guys.

I kid you not...every morning when I walk out to my car I walk through a web and if the sun is shining in the right spot, my car looks like something from The Mist.

I found a spot in my car where they like to live so I wash them out everytime I wash the car. Front of front doors, ahead of that small round speaker up top, on the black plastic panel that actually sits in the body cavity when it's closed (it never sees the daylight unless the door is open).

I killed one at the house the other day and it exploded into a million dots... It was carrying babies! I promptly pushed my gf in front of me and ran the other way.

Buy a bunch of spider eating birds and let them all loose in your house. Thats what I did and now my apartment is spider free since '93!

@ Carlton-Yes brooooooo, WTF??!! It was just like that!!!!! My gf is deathly afraid of spiders. I'm not so much, but it took me by surprise! It's like beating a BOSS and then all of a sudden "that shit cray" and the BOSS comes back to life with 5 batman belts, hulk strength, and infinite lives.

@ opbodyboarding- I have sugar gliders, maybe I should let them roam around the house for a few days and eat some of the creepy crawlers that are around the house.

Here is a picture of one of my babies crawling out of her crown royal pouch for an apple. I love the little guys, but def recommend keeping them in a separate room, they like to make this weird high pitched barking noise at like 4:00am. It sounds kinda like a puppy trying to bark when it's young.

hahaha I just noticed that lmao, yeah she keeps them in her cleavage. They like to sleep there.

We bought two because of that reason, they really do get lonely and start hurting themselves. They are always together, even when they sleep. The only times they separate is when they come out to play, they love running around under the bed cause it's dark under there. Then they do a little backflip thing and do a spiderman crawl across the lining of the bottom of the bed. It's pretty funny, they really get to know your smell, we lost one once in the room, took us like 20 minutes to find her... she crawled into the dirty clothes hamper and started sleeping in the pocket of my shorts hahaha.

How high maintenance are they? Do they just sleep all day or can you train them to sleep some at night if you keep a light on or something? Would they be ok alone all day while I'm at work?

They are naturally nocturnal, so of course they are going to be awake at night, I've heard of people training them like you mentioned but it's more like you control when they wake up and when they want to sleep. The most you could probably change that time would be about 4 hours. So usually they wake up around 9-10pm from what I have found, but you could train them to start waking up more like 5-6pm. They aren't too bad as far as maintenance, harder than a hamster but way easier than a dog. We feed them a staple food, and give them fruits as treats. OP I have class and work everyday and they sleep the entire day without a problem. And those off days or weekends you wanna play during the day they don't mind waking up for an hour or so if you have a treat ready. The more often you do it, the more they get used to it and won't mind.

On another note, it is pretty rewarding to introduce them to your friends and let them crawl around. After a few seconds they will climb to the highest point on your friends body, usually a shoulder or something, and will scan the environment to find the best way to glide back to you as an owner lol. Sometimes they get themselves into trouble and will climb something without thinking how they will get down and when they get to the top they get scared and wont come down until you hold your hands out for them to jump to lol.

^ The only thing you might wanna consider is the fact that they live for about 15 years. I know some people wouldn't want to invest that much time in a small animal.

In my 5 minute googled "research" about them, I read that. That seems like forever. I just cant wrap my head being almost 40 with these guys or even a dog that I get now. My life will be so different then. Probably the smart thing to do is wait until I have a house and a wife. Then I can get the gliders and a dog! They will be best friends and go on adventures together.
