Soft Brake Pedal
Last Week while driving to work a guy cut me off on the road and I had to make a sudden stop. The ABS went off and since then the brake pedal has been soft.
I took the car to my local mechanic and he said that the Master Brake Cylinder was failing. He also check the Brake booster and that was still good.
So he replaced that MBC and also replaced all the brake pads since they where low as well. However, the soft brake pedal is still there. He thinks its the ABS modulator and wants $615 to replace it.
Can a bad ABS modulator cause a soft brake pedal? I am thinking he didn't properly bleed the brake lines. What do you guys think?
I may have to take it to the dealership for a 2nd opinion.

VTEC just kicked in, yo!
Honestly I don't have much knowledge on the specific question, but a bleed of the lines isn't a whole lot of work/cost, so it might be worthwhile to get that done just to be sure.

He doesn't have a clue, but is sure willing to try a new modulator at your expense. Modulator does not cause a soft pedal.
A soft pedal could be air remaining in the brake lines and a bleeding would help. However, even the dumbest mechanics know this so probably already tried.
High pressure during emergency stop could have caused a rupture of a corroded brake line. If you live in area w/ salted roads, this is a possibility.
good luck

Thanks for the input. I called the the Acura service tech and he basically said the same thing. If the ABS light is not on then it most likely not the ABS system. Probably didn't bleed the brakes correctly. I am going to bring the car in to the Acura dealer for a diagnostic tomorrow... which I should've done in the first place. Btw, I have lived in San Diego and now Houston so no way has it seen any road salt.

Update -
I took it to the Acura and had a brake diagnostic done. Turns out that the ABS modulator indeed had a fault. So the car was in the shop since Thursday while they order the parts for repair. They gave my a loaner TLX (Meh) to drive while I waited.
Repairs where completed last night and I picked up my car this morning. Brakes are working well and I'm glad to be back in my TSX.
