09 TSX - pinging sound on acceleration?
HI, this is my first post, as I am a new Acura owner. I just bought the TSX 3 weeks ago, and since about 2 wks ago, I've noticed a faint pinging sound from the engine? when I accelerate. Now, it doesnt happen each and every time, but often enough that I can notice it. It seems to happen between 2nd/3rd gears and 3rd/4th. This is an Automatic Transmission, and was wondering if anyone else has noticed this, or what it may be from? Thanks in advance.

Once I got the tank down a bit I filled it up Chevron Premium and have not noticed any pinging since. You might want to try and change your brand of gas.

This seems to be a new fad with Acuras. My '07 TL-S is plagued with spark knock and so are many others'. I suppose the "Advance" slogan refers to the ignition timing of their cars--apparently there is too much of it.

I noticed pinging right after purchase too.
My dealership even told me they DID put regular gas. haha
What even worse is they said it's ok to put regular gas on 09 TSX! lol
I filled up with Shell 91 after I emptied regular gas, pinging is all gone.
And yeah!, I feel a bit more power too.
I think higher compression ratio of newer TSX engine makes it more sensitive to lower octane gas although ECU should adjust timing, will lose power, efficiency, etc...
So my recommendation is "DO NOT USE 87 OCTANE on your 09 TSX"
