Good to know. I'm going to watch some youtube videos on it, I'm sure it'll be easy enough.

How important is clay? I know people really like it, but how bad would it be not to use it in your steps above. I've never clayed before so I don't really know what to expect before and after.

Ummm I asked myself the same question; I did it to get the contaminants out so it doesnt seal to the paint.. I think claying is to get the really tough stuff that you cant get rid off from normal washing- it doesnt make ur car shiny or anything like that but u do feel a difference in the car's texture much smoother when you touch it

I think its the worse part of the job such a PIA..(today I just did spot claying, it would have taken another 2 hours to clay the whole car and Nobody got time for that)... I think and this is just my opinion and I know Im gonna get some backlash for it; if you wash it good enough I dont think it's necessary before buffing... I think you should clay it though when you do have time and or up for the challenge

... There products now that are sprays that does what clay bars are supposed to do Im looking into those now

Such a noob at this

Sealant goes on before the wax.. just FYI. And it needs at least 12 hrs to cure before you apply the wax on top.

And if you're a lazy clay'er.... look into the Nanoskin Autoscrub system.. saves you a ton of time & money in the long run.

Cool thank you sir... is glaze the same thing as wax??.. basically I did swirl remover then I did the glaze not really wax! then sealant

A glaze is a shine-enhancing product that goes on after polishing but before the wax or sealant

Finishing Glaze --- normally a product containing some filling ability to hide any light swirls. Some contain a small amount of protection and some glossing agents to shine deeper.

Wax --- a pure carnauba wax is a LSP product used to protect the work done while prepping the surface. Usually very wet in look, and deeper than synthetic waxes but durability is limited and re-application is needed more frequently.

Sealant -- a synthetic version of a wax. Originally quite sterile and plastic looking. Newer products use a lot of polymers to amp up the gloss factor to look wetter. Protection is usually longer and thus reapplication is less frequent. You can top a sealant with a pure wax to add to looks as wanted, but not the other way around typically.

Claying is supposed to clear out contaminants that can potentially scratch the paint during polishing, but I've never used clay. Don't really see the need, unless its like a 10 year old car getting its first detail?

I used the nanoskin autoscrub wash mitt instead of clay, seemed to do a pretty good job and was a lot faster. They also make pads if you want to use your buffers.

Spent 6 hours today detailing with my new DA polisher, so I thought I'd get some pictures. For you nerds, they were shot with my co worker's Canon T1i. We are by no means great photographers. Very lightly edited in Photoshop for brightness/contrast.

35% all around. The black interior helps to make it look a little darker.

Took me a few hours. I tried to have all the wires neat and hidden as much as possible which took time to find the best routing.

Auto still works like normal. Basically the car just thinks the fogs are off, but you are able to use your new switch to turn them on and off.

if you do the led reflectors make sure you get pretty high power ones. mine seem bright up close but if there's any sunlight outside you can hardly see them from a distance.

I put the switch on the drivers side under the dash on the right side. I was close to getting an oem switch and put it next to the vsa. cheapest one I could find was $20, I might try to offer the eBay guy less for it.

$20 is honestly a pretty good price for how functional and awesome it'll look once its done.

After 9 months of waiting, they are here!!!!!!!!!!! So exited to finally have them on after all the bs I went through to get them.

Specs:
Front: 19x8.5 et 48
Rear: 19x8.5 et 35

Wrapped in 245/40/19 Continental DW. The V6 wheels are slightly bigger, so putting these on in place of oem i4 wheels would make the speed-odometer off more than you'd like.

I could probably use a 5mm spacer in both the front and rear. To be honest it kind of scares me to be that close to the fenders. This is my DD and I'd rather not risk my tire being sliced or front fender being bent so deal with it.
