I took the snaps off the trunk liner, and you can undo the light housing from inside.

I feel that way about the fogs more so, since the whole thing is frosted. I think the headlight isn't so bad though. A clear reflector would be much better, but I have a feeling mine is going to turn out pretty bad. It's been sitting collecting dust for over a month now.

I know this is a long shot, but I'm selling my old OEM bumper that got rear ended. Two deep scratches is the main damage, no dents or cracks. Bumper is only 8 months old.

Teaser! I already did testing with how to wire them to the tails/brakes. Now I just have to play around with the voltages to get them the brightest they can go. They look really bright when they are alone, but when covered up by the reflector they lose a lot of their brightness. I think they'll be alright though!

This is what my friend uses. Dont know the brand or wher he bought it. But it seems to be much easier to install and much brighter!

@opboarding, put in a diffuser sheet if you want a clean straight through look instead of the led look

Hmm, those look nice. If mine dont turn out bright enough I think I remember seeing some brighter leds on ebay that were a little more expensive. We'll see.

I was actually thinking about that today. I have the perfect thing to go between the leds and reflector from my laptop's old broken LCD screen. It's a frosted plastic sheet I'd cut up that should work nicely. I'll use that if putting a gap between the leds and reflector doesn't diffuse it enough (picture was taken with them right up against the reflector).

I might also try another pattern and make the leds go diagonally in a zig zag instead of in a straight line, and the opposite diagonal direction can be for the brake lights. Will be harder to solder/wire up though.

distance will probably still give you some focal points, but like 2cm + the diffuser film should be perfect

also, tail lights after, thanks

i dont wanna learn how to do it myself so u need to

I'm pretty sure you do it the same way as the LED turn signal switchbacks. You do the same wiring like I'm doing (3 white led's wired in series to make a "set", then wire all the sets in parallel), and then you need to add a big resistor like for the turn signal switchbacks so it sees some load. I could be wrong but it should be the same as the turn signals. I dont need a resistor for what I'm doing since the original incandescent bulb is still on, I'm just tapping those wires.

So I've finally finished my led project. I ended up going with red led's because they seemed to diffuse the light a little better than the white ones I posted a few posts up. I tried a few patterns also, and ended up going with just two straight rows of lights. The bottom row is the regular lights, and the top row is the brake. The reflector is now about a 1/4" thicker from the wires and leds being fat so it isn't recessed anymore in the bumper. It is now pretty flush as you can see from the pictures. I used silicone to seal up around the edges. I know it looks kind of gross, but you wont ever see it anyway. In the night picture the extra points of light above it is just it reflecting off the lip on the bumper above it. I'm going to put some electrical tape over the top of the reflector to try to keep the light more contained in the reflector. They aren't super bright by any means, but you can definitely see them at night, and that's good enough to make me happy. Enjoy!

COOL, glad you got it to work out! So how did you run the wire? Up through the bottom of the trunk?

Yeah, it definitely took more time than I thought it would. But I think that's mainly because I was trying different patterns with the white leds, then I had to start over when I got the red ones.

It was kind of tricky. I didnt see an easy way to get from outside of the car to the inside while hiding the wire completely. So I ended up removing the rear bumper, and tail light, and feeding it through the big hole that the taillight's wires go through. Probably overkill, but I really wanted to hide the wires.

Hmm that might be an interesting thing to try out. Although I have a feeling that it might just make it look dirty/cloudy like it did to the fogs. I ended up taking off the clear from the headlights/fogs a few weeks back.

One row is dim to go with parking lights, and the other row lights up brighter with the brakes. I might change both rows to light up with the brakes only. The dim light row is almost too dim and doesn't seem to diffuse the light as well.

Some junk came in the mail today I might not be able to install for a couple weeks though. I'm making 300mi+ trips both this weekend and next weekend and probably wont have time to install+alignment during the week. I've been really antsy waiting the past month for the megans since they were on back order, and now I'm really feeling it!
