Deck Lid Spoiler
So I finally got a chance to put my deck lid spoiler on and write a DIY. Bought it off of ebay for 100+ shipping. Decided against drilling.
First peel off the back side of the 3M tape that is attached to the lip.
Then get some adhesive sealant and apply to opens holes that would be used for drilling.
Now it's ready to mount. Be sure that the first edge of the lip that meets with trunk lid is the face of the trunk, if not it will not sit flush with the back end. Then press the top of the lip to the top of the trunk. Apply medium pressure over entire surface. The 3M tape plus adhesive will make it virtually unmovable.
Hope this helps anyone who has been looking to do this.

How's the spoiler holding up?
I just got my TSX last Saturday.
How's the spoiler holding up? I'm planning to get the same type and also only use tape/glue rather than drilling. The Acura instructions actually have you drill two holes on either side and replace one of the trunk springs--a lot of work.
I originally was planning to get the wing spoiler but after reading Acura's instructions, it's way too much work for me.
For those interested, this site has PDFs of the actual Acura instructions. http://www.acurapartssuperstore.com/...roducts_id=346

you should think of replacing the trunk spring either way. its to deal with the added weight on the spoiler, also cause you probably throw off the balance thats if you want the trunk to open very easily and fully. not sure how much it matters with a lip

Its actually matters a lot ive seen someone go in to the dealer with a tsx that had a misaligned trunk, slightly higher on the right side, if it comes with the purchase just use the spring. All oem lip spoilers FROM ACURA come with trunk spring

Lip is holding up great. No problems with the springs, trunk opens fine.

Ive looked at so many times, whoever painted it did a great job because I see NO difference in color.

Nice, I paid acura 350 to order and install this for me. Personally, I don't mind losing 250 on this because I suck at diy and I want something that's oem.

Theres a small difference between this and the OEM one...i think the OEM one is thicker but once mounted I cannot see any difference.
I personally bought 2 oem lips from ebay for about $60 shipped in the wrong color a year apart. I wanted it to be black anyways so color didnt matter to me as I just plasti-dipped it.
Oh and the reason why I bought two was because my roomate melted my 1st one with a heat gun.

should i buy an OEM spoiler and get it repainted to grigio, or buy an ebay primed plastic one?

Dude... Buy eBay that's primed and ready. Get grigio in a can and do it yourself. You will never know the difference. It's such a Small piece you don't have to worry about being absolutely perfect with your strokes. It will come out nicely, you will save money, and gain experience. Plus you don't actually need your car until you mount it.

i might take it to a paint shop at the same with heeltoe grill if i get it... too bad theres no awesome roof spoiler for our car, im not really a fan of the one that curves straight upward

I'm telling ya... you will save so much more money by DIY. The can will cost ~$25 and the time to do it will be ~3hrs. You will be much happier spending less than $100 on your deck lid spoiler. If it was a bumper or something larger I would say let a shop handle it. I think you have what it takes KILLER. You can do it!

did you clearcoat?
doesnt that require extra care because of orange peel shit or whatever?

nahhhh mine was paint matched. You can get your exact color from a paint place(Just bring in the number and they will mix it up for you, personally I know a place in Orlando that will do it). If you want a clear coat then buy some for $6 at home depot. It's really not hard to do. If mine didn't come matched that's what I would have done. Honestly I probably payed more for it to come matched than it would have cost me to buy it primed and painted it myself.

You guys like to spend money lol. Painting isn't hard.I vote PIY. Get it??

Just buy the acura color matched spoiler. $350 for pom is a win in my book. Being car enthusiasts, we are too anal about details...having a poorly painted / matched spoiler will look off to us even though people say it looks fine.

seeyou2crew rule #6:
if one wishes to initiate himself or herself into the cr3w, one must buy coilovers for each member of the group, and that the group members can choose which brand and type of coilovers they wish to receive.
rule #9:
if one does buy coilovers for group members, one must also pay for installation and/or buy camber kits as well.

How many different OEM spoiler are there? I know there a wing, and a deck lip. Is there any more OEM style spoilers?
