TSX V6 with 6 Speed Manual from Accord V6?

Any one out there thinking about doing it to their V6 TSX?

I know Automatic to Manual swaps have been done before, so the know how is out there.

Just waiting to see one done on the V6 TSX. Haha.

I'm thinking 08-12 Accord V6 6MT's or 09-11 TL 6MT's will work best. TL has the same J35z6 as the TSX so knowing that makes the Transmission swap seem more doable, though all J series are compatible with their different transmissions as far as I know.

Do any of you think it would be worth it?

Parts could come from a wrecked donor such as V6 6MT Accord's and TL's. That could keep some costs down right?

Would be a great build thread! haha.:wish:

A whole lot of work to ruin the value of a good car (in my opinion). I'd be surprised if there are many that would be interested in a hacked up TSX. Resale concerns alone should bring this idea to a screeching halt. If you want an MT V-6, get an Accord.

Didn't the Russian guys do an AWD 6-speed swap?

Timmy18 05-18-2013 05:20 PM

Whoa really? I haven't heard of it or seen it in any forum. Got a link?

Only thing I know of the Russians doing with Acura's is making a 2G Honda Legend RWD, and I have only found low quality video of it.

Was the AWD system SH-AWD?

It was a 2.4 auto. You can read about it here-still pretty cool. https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...hlight=AWD+TSX

That looked great! Wow. Looks like they used a CR-V VTM-4 transmission and rear end. No bad. Not bad at all.

Thanks for mentioning this. I would probably never searched it on my own (Thinking It wasn't been done).

I have been thinking about this now that's it's been 8 years. As an alternative to buying a new auto transmission and installing it since I'm replacing I might as well add the manual off a TL or Accord. So far in my research I've found...
  • Find compatible transmission
  • Install 3rd pedal
  • Flash computer to accept the new 6MT
  • Disable paddle shifters
  • Pray
if has done this or at least knows which transmission will work post back. Thanks.

And:
  • Wiring
  • Clutch hydraulics
  • Console rebuild
  • Shifter installation
  • Shift linkage fabrication and installation
  • What axles would you use; they might need to be fabricated as well.
Even with all of the above, there is still a very high level chance it you'll never get the car sorted.

WOW this really isn't like swapping in a 90's GM is it. Yeah this is a project for a car if it's not a daily driver. Best to install the auto transmission and trade it for a V6 6MT Accord. Still though it would be cool to know if it was done.

Best bet would be a 07-08 TL-S 6MT trans or as you mentioned the 08+ Accord V6 6MT. The TL-S trans is quite priced if you can find one used but they're also LSD where the Accord trans if not.

If you do decide to go down this path the TL-S trans is well worth the investment.

As for the 10-14 6MT out of the 4G TL, unless your doing a SH-AWD swap as well that trans won't help you much since it's only an AWD trans.

Sounds like a lot of work. I'd love to see this MOD but if you can find a manual V6 accord or TL it may be better sadly.

TSX V6 3.5L front engine mount replacement

I'm looking for aftermarket engine mount for a 2010 TSX v6 with no luck. OEM part number:

Front engine mount: Part Number: 50830-TP1-A01

If this part does not have aftermarket equivalence would it be possible to use Acura TL 3.5 AT or Honda Accord 3.5 AT mounts instead? The part look very similar (same J35 engine in these cars) but I can't be certain without buying first because of the Bolt and hight configuration. Has anyone had this issue or knows how to resolve this?

Every part shop I've been to they've asked the same. Most of the time they can't even order the part because it says out of stock. I found 2 places that can order the OEM part one for $550 & another for around $800. I found an Accord mount for $70 and a TL mount for $120. They look very similar but I need to have my mechanic pull the front mount so I can side by side compare with a TL and an Accord mount. Has anyone seen these parts or knows what the difference is? I know the TSX front mount has the hydraulic pressure valve at the bottom in the same place as the others.
