So I'm kinda pissed. I ordered the downpipe and high flow cat about 3 weeks ago. Took a little over 2 weeks to receive because I had the downpipe coated. So I received it little less than a week ago. Right before I ordered, I was told there was no package deal for buying both. I looked a couple of days ago and now there is a package! $60 less than buying seperate. B.S.

need your guys opinion.... i am interested in the HFC to replace my 2nd cat in the car.....

will i get any or much benefit without the downpipe? also have the CTE- Catback exhaust.... will that change the way it sounds much? for better or worse?

Thanks.

KillerG, I haven't installed it yet. Was going to this past weekend, but it rained and I couldn't.

Game, I'm sure you'll get some benefit to thr HFC alone, but I think the majority of the benefit is from the downpipe. I don't know how or if it will change the sound of the exhaust, but I would think if it does, it will be for the better. I should be able to get the downpipe and HFC installed this weekend. I still have stock exhaust, but I'll let you know if it changes the sound. I'm trying to get a custom exhaust installed this weekend too, but so far I've had no luck with shops here that think they can do it. If this place can't, then I guess I'll have to go with the CT cat back also.

If you keep the OEM precat with HFC, it might give you a little bit of performance gain, but not as much when you remove the pre-cat. FYI, the RV6 pre-cat gained 14hp with the OEM 2nd cat. I believe the P2R pipe gained 10-12hp when removing just the 2nd cat but keeping the OEM precat.

As for sound, it might get a slightly louder with just the precat since there's less material in there to muffle the sound.

This is a great product awesome power gain for the money; unfortunately it's not for me!

I installed mine about 3 weeks ago but this weekend is coming off and will be up for sell for $200.00. I'll only sell locally in the Orlando FL area.

I love the power gain but cannot live with the raspy sound between 2 / 3 k RPMs. BTW - this is with 2nd cat.

If interested please send PM.

They took care of it. RV6 has some awesome customer service.

KillerG, What mufflers do you have? I have 2 magnaflow and a magnaflow resonator that I've been trying to have installed with no luck.
Shops in this city suck when it comes to cars.

Yes, stock everything but downpipe.

Don't get me wrong it's not loud loud... I'm sure if you already have exhaust you can live with it... it's just a bit raspy between 2/3k RPM. and that's not for me.

Again, if you don't care about that it's an awesome product you won't believe how smooth your car will feel throughout the power band.

No, man! Not even close, that's loud!

The sound it's just a bit raspy probably about 50% less of that note and only between 2/3K RPM.

Fn2 Awsum, totally jealous of the RRC. I tried to get one but got impatient so purchased an RBC for now and plan to port it instead. In case your interested, the new ZDX throttle bodies are 70mm in diameter and are cheaper than the TL throttle bodies that people have been buying to match their new intake manifolds. You may want to look into that. OEM quality is best and this ZDX one is cheaper than aftermarket throttle bodies such as the skunk2. I think ill get a ZDX one eventually.

I got a quote from RV6 on both downpipe and test pipe like 2 months ago, and saved like $60 or something too. I followed up on that quote and sent payment like a month later but they still honored the initial quote. Good service indeed.

I didn't notice the raspy that you speak of. However it is probably there.

I like it - Ready to get rolling on the turbo....

What exhaust setup do you have? This is not the normal maybe you need to add a resonator.

Looks nice here also :p Is the combo deal valid for export also? As I said in the emails I'd like the HFC/ceramic coating too.

The resonator is a great idea! It'll deepen the exhaust note too, will sound like a proper lux sedan.

I actually want some rasp and some rawness from my CU2 now. Im so tired of tight sounding honda sound...that typical 4cyl sound.

I am sure we can work some combo deal out for the export version. Shoot me a email at rich@rv6-p.com for a complete quote and invoice. I am currently a little preoccupied to add it to the website. Shipping for just the PCD to AU is ~$97

The f'in stock downpipe is a f'in BEAST! Second cat too. The RV6 downpipe and HFC combined weigh about what the stock second cat does by itself! The performance gains are prob due to the weight reduction. Front of the car sits about 2" higher now. Lol.

It's pretty straight forward, but I suggest unscrewing all of the bolts and nuts on the stock downpipe from under the hood before raising the cch easier to get to them. Definately raise the car up as high as possible. It's pretty tight under the car making it difficult to get in a position to tighten the bolts. Especially if you're replacing the 2nd cat! I put the back wheels on stands too which I know helped alot. Tighten the defouler and install the 2nd O2 sensor on the RV6 downpipe before you install it. You can't turn the defouler to tighten it once installed because it hits the front axle. Luckily I tightened before. That would have sucked! Lol. I did have to remove the front strut bar and pull the stock cat up thru the engine bay. Wasn't enough room underneath. If you have a MT, you might have enough room. Hope this helps.

Remove the strut bar, O2 sensor, heat sheild, and precat fasteners from the top of the car. Jack the car up and remove the OEM horizontal pipe that goes into the 2nd cat. Remove the 2nd O2 sensor. From there you should be able to remove the vertical leg of the precat.

Installation is straight forward. Make sure to bolt up the pre-cat delete to the 2nd cat before you lower the car. Make sure to install the 2nd O2 sensor, but if you forget, you can access it from the top if you have really long extensions. Lower the car and replace the precat fasteners. No need to reinstall the heat shield. Bolt up the strut bar and you should be good to go.

Thanks AC and Thunderbt3 for the insights. Probably saved me a couple of hours and a lot of frustration. Any idea on the torque specs for the strut bar and O2 sensors? I already have the ones for the head and exhaust. Otherwise, I'm ready to tackle this. Thanks again.

From RV6: For the precat to the head the spec is 23ft/lb and for the precat to secondary cat and secondary to exhaust use 25ft/lb. If you are using a test pipe or high flow secondary cat use 30ft/lb.

These were the main numbers I was looking for and RV6 continued to live up to their excellent reputation for customer service by providing these numbers.
I can probably figure the torque specs for the strut bar and O2 based on current factory tightness.

From the service manual:

Nuts to attach PCD to engine head - 23 ft-lb
Nuts to attach PCD to 2nd cat - 25 ft-lb
Nuts to attach PCD to HF cat/test pipe - 30 ft-lb
Nuts to attach 2nd cat to rest of exhaust - 25 ft-lb
Nuts to attach HF cat/test pipe to rest of exhaust- 30 ft-lb
O2 sensors - 33 ft-lb
Nuts to attach strut bar - 16 ft-lb

I forgot to put in there to reuse the rubber exhaust hanger and make sure its in place before lowering the car. If you have trouble pulling it off the precat or putting it on the PCD, use a little bit of WD40 and it will slide right off.
