Msg CT Engineering about price of Intake
I was curious about the price of the intake the price difference bothers me quite a bit to be honest. Enough to message the company and ask what the deal is, specifically in comparison to the 1st Gen TSX. This was my response.
I knew this and of course my follow up question was whether the intake would ever be machine made out of standard material. Didn't receive an answer so I'm assuming maybe if there's enough demand someday. Just thought I'd pass the msg along incase anyone else was dumfounded by the almost 1/2 grand price tag and wondered if it would drop anytime soon. I don't mind paying 1/2 a grand for an upgrade to my ECU etc.. but an intake.. sorry.
The price difference comes with a number of reasons.
The newer model intake is hand molded out of fiberglass and carbon fiber. This is a much more costly than the roto-molded plastic lid of the previous TSX box. The previous box also does not include any sort of airtube as it utilizes a panel type filter. For the 09+ TSX we supply a machined billet aluminum airtube. There are other differences but those two parts are by far the two costliest differences. The 04-08 TSX is by far our least expensive intake, which certainly makes it a tough comparison to any of our other offerings.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.

if someONE (emphasis on the one or two, b/c I'd hate to see someone get email bombed by a dozen TSX owners) wanted to email him here's the info.
