Installed/Review of Injen Intake
Hey everyone, wanted to do a little write up on the Injen intake. I was looking into getting one for some time and never had an Injen product before. I choose the Injen because it was the cheapest name brand intake out there I got it off ebay from the cheapest seller and it arrived within four days. First impressions of the kit was that it was packaged well, parts looked great and instructions were step by step and had pictures for every single step, im sure if this was your first intake install you would have no trouble, minus taking the front bumper off of course. Using a lift and working by myself I had the bumper off, all the old intake parts out and new one in within an hour. The only trouble I had was positioning the two pipes together so they would not rub on anything. After trying for 20 minutes I found that there would be a gap of only a few mm between the lower section of the cold air tube and vehicle's metal structure. I ended up useing a sheet of felt that we normally use for squeeks and rattles and placed on the vehicles structure so that if it would hit there would be no marks or nosies. Other than that everything went back together very well.
After driving it a few weeks I can tell there is a bit more power but the main thing is the noise it makes above four grand. I've had an intake in damn near every single car I've owned and I'm pretty sure this one sounds the best. Under that and normal hwy/ city driving sound levels are around the same as stock. Gas mileage has been very hard to judge being that we've had a cold spell and a few winter storms so the car has spent its fair share of warming up.

Thanks for the review. I've seriously been thinking about doing this mod as well but really have questions about the hp increase. How much of an improvement do you think it really gives on that front? Is it negligible or really can be seen or "felt?" Sorry as this is the best way I can think to describe it.
For example, when I drive my wife's TL, I can really feel a big difference between my 201 hp and her 280 with pep, torque and everything. I can barely push her gas pedal and it skirts. I'm not expecting that kind of difference with the Injen Intake but will it really be noticieable?
Thanks.

you are gonna be expecting about 7-8 hp actual increase and another 5 hp worth of placebo effect lol
waiting for the spring to do an intake since my cars been garageing it up this winter. thanks for the review!
the injen one seems to be the most popular by far. ive read about maybe one person having the takeda and none with the typhoon

Nice review. I can vouch for what he says regarding both increase in power and noise. The hp gains aren't huge, but the first time I drove it with the injen I could absolutely notice a bit more pep. The sound you get from it however is pure heaven. I also bought it off ebay from the cheapest seller I could find.
Additionally, the actual intake looks incredibly sexy. Got mine in black to match the CBP.

Thanks a heap for the review!!! This is going to be one of my first mods to my car when I get it so I've been trying to get a few personal opinions on the intake. Is it possible if you could post up a video of the sound please?

For the Injen, they claim +14HP and for the Takeda, they claim +12HP...
lb Torque is the same.
I didn't even think the gains would be that much.
But I think I'll go with the Injen, LOL.

Hey bro, I'm from Louisiana also so I know what you mean about inspections. lol. I'm from a small town called Mer Rouge in the Northeast part of the state not far from the Mississippi border. You probably haven't heard of it but Monroe is the closest town that you may know.
Let us know when you get your intake put on and your observations. Thanks.

Thanks guys for all the props, just wanted to get a review out there. I'll post some pics hopfully tomorrow. I looked at all the intakes out there and this one was what I thought to be the best bang for the buck. Def do notice more power but like I said its mostly noise. A video would not do it justice, but I'll see what happens.

That would be great if you could post up some pictures. I'm sort of persuaded to go Injen too as I see a lot of people getting it and saying it's decent. Even though a video won't do any justice, I just wanted to hear the sound difference between stock and one with an intake.
no, unless u hydrolock with the intake. so just becareful. thye can NOT void ur warrenty unless they can prove that your aftermarket parts is what caused the problem. ie, if ur radio malfunction or something, they cant void the warrenty just cuz u have an intake.

hydrolocking the intake could be achieved by...?
driving through a lake? 1 inch deep puddle?

I think a vendor on here said that you have to drive through 4 feet of standing water for this to happen..but anything can happen...somebody also linked a site which sells the sock to cover the intakes with just in case

had an injen CAI on my old 05 RSX type S, very nice sound, could def feel the power gain. Had an AEM CAI on my 2008 TL base I just traded in, could barely notice more power, nice sound though, but didnt fit very well. I actually noticed a hole in the intake tube where it brackets onto the chassis, it had ripped off some time ago and i just noticed it, cheap!
