Downpipe doesnt fit on my Accord!
Hy all Downpipe owners
I installed the Downpipe today, the lenght and the curves fitted very well. But where I have to bolt it (dont know this word) the holes didnt fit. I hardly get the bolts in the holes, one bolt shows up the other down . And the smoke goes out between the two plates(sound isnt bad.LOL). The quality is not as good as I expected (I have known thats not stainless steel, but better should be for this price).
Are there the same problems on TSX i4, who installed the pipe and can help me? I read all threads on Downpipes but never heard about this problems!
Will testfit again tomorrow and make some pics.
For those who donīt know, I own a Honda Accord CU2. Thought the pipe is the same as on the US Accord 8gen and Acura TSX 2gen

take some pics of your exhaust setup in that area if you can

Which connection is giving you a problem? The mount toward the rear of the car with 3 bolts or the mount closer to the front of the car with the 2 spring loaded bolts?
Mine did not click in to place like a lego piece either. The rear mounting holes were just a little off. Didnt have to alter anything just had to move it around a bit to get all 3 in. The front 2 bolts gave me a tiny bit of trouble in that I had to put alot of muscle on one of the bolts to get it started.

Which downpipe is this? P2R or custom? Try assembling everything with the bolts snug but not tight to get some wiggle room. Once everything is lined up then fully tighten the bolts. Trust me, the RV6 downpipe will be worth the wait. It bolted right up like it was OEM and they also include all new gaskets to ensure nothing leaks.

I know what you mean, have not tighten every bolt, never would get the next bolt in, if I do so, the bolts only snug and smaller bolts, so I can leave the Downpipe mounted. Today I can have a Jack to fix it better. Gasket and bolts where incl. at Throwdown, too.
Have to mail with Marc if it dont work today!
thanks to both for your help

Don't forget that emissions laws vary between countries. I'm guessing that CU2s in Germany have a different exhaust than CU2s in USA, or even Canada. I hope you can fix it!

I had to twist the down pipe to get the holes to all line up. If however, the 3 bolts don't look to line up under any circumstances, it won't fit.

Yeah, it doesn't fit properly. You'll have to modify the holes on either the downpipe or the rest of OEM pipe (don't remember which). You can only do it on one part because otherwise there's not enough material to cut through (I'm sure you understand what I'm talking about).
Also, it won't properly fit on the rubber clamp located on the car's floor. Do NOT force it in, as it will eventually break at the welding point, happened to me. Just leave it unattached, it's not needed anyway.

This is the part that doesnīt fit. Googletranslation call it FLANGE. I dont want to drill bigger holes because this part is much smaller than OEM Flange. Distance between the holes is 78mm. I need 90mm, as you see on the pic the holes on the flange are near the end of the flange. I will cut it off and make a new Flange.
But I recognized anothher thing when I was under the car. If this is a Cat delete, why make this part so big. I will try to make me new pipes, but only as big as necessary to remove the CAT. The Cat has two Flanges. The rest of the pipe with the OEM Flexpipe is ok, its the same diameter as the Downpipe. I need less Material and work to make me my own Cat delete.
I will change the Flange to make the Downpipe fit and make myself only a Catdelete with Stainless steel. Then I can testdrive both.
The new Flanges (left and right side of the Cat) are in work already.
But iit will take a few weeks till I have time to make everythin fit.

Today I cut the wrong flange from my Downpipe, now I have to make some fitmentwork on the new flange, before I weld the flange on the Downpipe. Need a Jackstand, hopefully on Saturday.
I made plans for delete the middle muffler, and install bigger pipes, if the Kat delete went ok, and no error message on the display. Want 63,5mm to the Y in front of the mufflers. Oem piping has 3 different diameter, from 60mm at the Cat to 45mm at the mufflers

I got it!
Took me 3 hours to fit the flange and weld it. Now I have to control my emissions, CO2 etc. , before I get trouble with the law in Germany!
If its ok, then next is the middle muffler, I want to replace it with a pipe in 63,5mm.
Testdrive on the Autobahn, flooring the car about 70km, full throttle
needed fuel 17l/100km cant say whats this in mpg, but its a lot.

Glad you got it to work Hondo.
So you floored it for 70km or about 43 miles? Wish we could do that here. How fast did you get it up to?
Also do you notice a difference in acceleration with the downpipe?

Nice, has anyone just hollowed out their cat and called it a day?

Its not a Powerexplosion LOL, but a little better acceleration
Thx, ed my friend
No sure what you mean? I will post my next plans with pics, could help everyone with delete ONLY the Cat! Maybe we are on the same plan?
Yes, I need time on a sunday morning, whwn the Autobahn is empty, then I will try to make a vid. Not for 70km again, it kills my fuel and money, fuel is expensive in Germany.LOL
The price for 95 Octane fuel is about 1,60/1Litre

Hey Pyro"use the search button, bitch"Dave. Thanx
Like your comments on the non searchers here.LOL
@ssjoeboe9
You mean burn this stuff out or something like that? Here a pic from inside the 2nd Cat
Iīm waiting for the price for flanges, that a shop can make for me. If the price is ok. I will make a "only cat delete" out of stainless steel. Then try to sell the Downpipe in Germany, now that I make it fit, I should get a good money for the DP. Haha
Need two different flanges
two 63,5mm bows 15°, because the pipe in the Cat isnīt straight, it makes a curve.
@thunderbt3
The diameter of our pipe isnīt smaller as from the downpipe, less welding points ok, and the flow is a little better, but 250$ for a pipe thats not even out of stainless steel? I never again would pay so much money for it!
May I produce a few more, for you, my Azine buddies? LOL
On the otherside, we still donīt know if our flanges are the same. I dont want you to have the same fitment issues as I!
But first let s see how it will work, and how much money for the Material I will need

Yeah that's what I mean! Just make it so the cat is hollow pipe! Isn't that basically what you paid for by installing the downpipe? No more cat better airflow right?

You are right, but if you hollow out the Cat, ther is a big place or hole inside where the air can mass around (no good airflow), I better would go with a pipe, and delete the Cat!

ROTAREDOM
Oh, I see! so there would be a back pressure by hollowing it out? If I had time I would try to fab my own pipe, but I don't have time, and I'm still under warranty lol.

Some of you know that we have strong emission laws in Germany. Every two years we have to pass a TÜV control, they look for breaks, lights, chassis etc.
And the AU, here they control our CO2 and emission from Exhaust. My next AU is this year at Octobre, but after deleting my 2nd Cat, I went to a carshop and let them check my emissions. Result is that my emmisions didnt change, CO and O2, everything is ok with the Cat delete. I can post the result if someone is interested in. I think you guys from Cali had emission test, too, or am I wrong. So maybe good news for you. (If the test is the same)

I have built my own Downpipe ( better call it a 2nd Cat delete) today, pipe and flanges are out of Stainless steel. The weight from the 2nd Cat is 2.8 kg, my pipe is about the half. Cost me about 80$. Fitment is perfect.
The Downpipe from Throwdown I will sell in Germany.LOL
Here some Pics.
