If you mean CAI or SRI , on modern MAF equipped vehicles, I would say no as the MAF can read and adjust A/F amounts no matter the cfm going in . That is as long as the intake is made properly cause the tube where MAF sensor bolts to controls the A/F amounts the ECU see's . A improperly made one could throw cels or run wrong A/F ratio's .

technically no.. but with my past experience with intakes, you def waste more gas. i found myself always going deeper in the throttle just to hear the noise and wound up wasting more gas.
