2012 Acura TSX 2.4 K24Z3 Performance Ideas
Hey all, new to the forum. Looks like a nice place to stop by and gather some opinions. I've recently acquired a fairly low mileage and paid off Acura TSX Special Edition and I love it to death. Being the performance enthusiast I am, I got curious and decided to see what mods if any I could do to this thing over the course of my ownership. I plan on keeping this thing for a very long time and I'm willing to drop plenty of $ to make my vision come true. I've been looking through multiple online part shops and through this forum and I've gathered a general idea of what I could do and how much it could cost. But I wanted to drop the question to all of you guys to gain some insight on what should be done in the future. I'm not worried about what to do as far as basic mods go like throttle body spacers, intakes, exhaust, etc. What intrigued me was the engine internal mods I came across like camshafts, valve and spring kits, ecu tunes, pistons, crankshafts, etc. And of course either form of forced induction (turbo preferably). My goal one day is for it to make 350-400 maybe 450 hp without anything blowing up. If you guys could give me any personal wisdom from experience, send some links to parts or videos, or show me any other threads that give me an idea on what can be done I'd be very appreciative.

the k24 loves boost.
watch boostedbois on youtube as that's ALL they do is boost K24's all day every day.
as far as engine internals...it's up to you if you want to spend the money on a built engine...if you cant do it yourself, then you'll have to spend money on labor..
so, if you want to build the internals, do so.
then turbo the car.
You have to have a much much more specific question....

My bad. Just trying to get more of a clue as to what can be done and what can't be done or what shouldn't be done. If I were to start with internals, what'd be the best thing to target getting installed first before boosting? I was thinking cams and valves first.

^sure, if that's what you want to do...
there's no right or wrong answer; it's all dependent on your goals and budget...
the K24 can get away boosted without upgrading the internals.. but then the motor is only as strong as the weakest link.. and by adding lots of power, you'll find the weakest link pretty quickly.

That’s what I was thinking. I didn’t want to get ahead of myself and do something the motor can’t handle. I’ve been looking up parts for a while now and I got an idea of what’s compatible. I just came here to see if there was some tips I should know going forward.

Kyle spells EVERYTHING out in a video. he's good at explaining on what he's doing and why...and if something broke, he's good at figuring out why it broke...
adding major power will show you the weaknesses in your car. whether it be internally or something else
in some of the cars he does; some of them are built...and some of them are all stock...
depends on his budget...as he's still a college aged person.
so, like you...it will depend on your budget and goals...

for the minivan, he used an H22/b22..forgot which one...but since he knew what he was already doing...he had already done like 3 or 4 turbo setups..
he knew and had the foresight to build it with better pistons, etc....
with the hatch, he blew it up and found the weaknesses. then built it.

I’ll try not to end up like that lol. I also see that he’s k swapping that subie. Hopefully there will be some info there as it goes on.

You right lmao. If I tried going over 700 I’d end up in a ditch somewhere. I’ve also wondered if the transmission would need some mods to handle the extra horses. It’s an automatic so I’m not sure what can be done about that.

VTEC just kicked in, yo!
That's UTAH TSX:

It blew up because he used Hondata's live tuning with the factory wideband and it showed the AFR as being rich. But, indeed they found out it was actually too lean . These are some things to consider upgrading/changing when going FI. Off the top of my head, I think you should also look into a transmission cooler, as well as better motor mounts.

Thinking about leaning towards these cams, maybe with some new valves and springs and retainers. https://www.carid.com/skunk2/k-serie...88&url=1862851

What are the best "bang for your buck" engine modifications that combine performance and every day drive-ability?
