NavTool...anyone, anyone?

This has been asked several times, but none of the threads ever have responses, but thought I'd post anyway.

What's the general consensus on NavTool...ok or...?

2011 TSX Wagon w/Tech (dreaming of CarPlay)

Thanks

I have NavTool for my 2012 Honda Pilot. I use it to put the rear DVD player on the nav screen up front. It was easy to install and works great. I have had it in place for about 9 years.

I've been trying to find out how well the Grom offering works for teh TSX and if it has any of the same issues. I really like this car and would happily upgrade to the Grom if it resolved the two issues I have with the NavTool.

Yeah but you have the base model. I would 100% do that if I had the base model, but you can't if you buyght a TSX with factory navigation. It's basically impossible to swap the factory Nav out for an aftermakrte unit.

No! My car is a 2013 Tech Package. Watch the first video from the start. A custom harness is used to bypass the tech package nonsense. With that harness you replace the nav screen with the radio screen from the base model. Every button on my steering wheel works like it left the factory. It is an absolute joy having done this upgrade.

No kidding! I'll have to check that out.

No issues here. I find that the volume is quite loud/ I have the car volume set a lot lower with GROM than I did with the stock audio.

The Mic and GPS unit is just sitting in the middle little storage area (Been too lazy to run it through the side pillar lol) on the passenger side and I haven't had issues with it at all.

The oem backup camera also works fine as well. Instuctions say you need to stitch a extra wire for the backup camera but it's not needed.

Overall 1000% glad i bought it.

Thanks for the feedback. I have Grom Vlite on the way. If it works a well for me as it appears to have worked for you, I may keep my TSX another 100K miles!

Can't believe I never replied to this thread. in any case, I did get the Grom. Had it installed by a local audio shop and absolutely love it. Everything works as it should. The only clunky thing about this setup is placing phone calls, but that's just the way the stock bluetooth handles calls placed from the phone. Your best bet is to switch over to the factory system while placing the call, then switch back when you're done. If you need the Android auto screen while on your call (let's say you're using navigation to get to someone's home and placing a call to let them know you're 15 minutes away) you just hold the "back" while on the call and the system will show you the Android Auto interface and your Google maps.

This system is great. I highly recommend it to anyone who has a tech package TSX. I've got a kid in college and another who will be in college next year. I can't afford to be upgrading my ride at this point, so it's nice to know I can at least bring my current car up to fairly decent tech specs. My TSX has 190k miles on it. With this unit I feel I can put another 30, 40k on the car without feeling like I'm sacrificing that much.
