LED fog light strip, connect to DRL and Fog connection
1 Attachment(s)
Hello again.
I would like to install a fog light strip (see picture attached) in the location of the factory fog lights. 1. What is the longest one I can fit in there? 2. I want the new fog light (strip) to be on at all times, with or without (DRL) headlight and off course eliminating the DRL in the headlight. TIA, I am glad to be back in the Acura family. |
1. Why not go out and measure it yourself? That way you can have it where you want
2. Tap the power wire into something that has power when the car is on. |

I dont really look into these strips so cant help you with that.
There is a DRL fuse, just pull that out. You might get a CEL though if I remember correctly. As for getting them to stay on all the time, I answered that in number 2. :) |

you can pull the fuse for the DRL. that is the only way to turn it off, i forgot which fuse it is in the box by your left knee. no CEL occurs, but if you get in an accident and they find out about it, insurance can try to deny the claim.
for the foglight, wire it to something like the windshield wiper and a ground. if you want to actually have a switch for it, follow the instruction in the DIY posted for independent fogs. Toby has a DRL LED strip by his fogs, if ya want, look at his |
Dave,
Thanks for the reminder to the DIY section on the independent fogs..

if you search this top weve thrown up designs and mockups and everything, but we have no fruit
one intrepid man went pretty far and even sent me an led circuit board to test but had issues resealing the lights and ended up shelving the project |
^for ur other thread

I don't think insurance can do anything. There are a lot of cars out there that don't run DRL lights.

there are many cars without DRLs, but those with DRLs are noted by the insurance company and can get slightly lower pricing, because safer. you can see them during the day and if the driver forgets to turn on headlights at night, you can see them. you are technically disabling a safety feature. like disabling airbags

Hey KillerG, those lights look really nice. I'm installing something similar on my 09 TSX. I'm going to use the Philips Daylight 4. Do you mind telling me how were you able to mount yours? Did you had to remove the bumper? A picture of yours during the day with a closer look will be very helpful. THANKS!!
