WTH happened to my garage
FWIW, I had to buy a cord twice from (a) the ipod getting bumped around in the console (b) my NEW cord disappearing from the console when being...AHEM...detailed.
I started pulling my iPod & cord when going in for service. The last time I took it in and left the cord plugged in, I made a red pen mark on the cord at the USB end of the new cord, and...VOILA! It had no such mark when I picked it up & it was bad again...imagine that!
I think the monitor reads "No Data Available" or something like that?

Edit for clarification;
When the cords were bad, the radio display would read "No Data Available", I don't remember if the navi screen read the songs or not.
So, yeah, try a new cord.

I have the USASpec Ipod adaptor for my 06 TSX w/ Navi. My 1st gen iPod touch stopped working; but the wife's iPhone 3GS is A-OK. I'm also only getting sound out the left speakers when I use the Aux connector with the touch. I thought it was a problem with adaptor or the audio system until I tried with several different other iPod products and they worked fine with the adaptor or AUX plug.

and sometimes mine would suddenly not play too, (i have a cheap ebay cord cus the oem apple one are so damn overpriced) and when it doesnt work (probably banged around in the glove box) i just press the middle key of the ipod and the menu key (hard restart) then it'll reboot and everything works fine

I don't get the "no data" warning..everything shows up on the screen as if it is playing, but no sound. I'm going to try to hook it up again tonight and see what happens. It's annoying. I love having the ipod in the car..it's one of my favorite features of the car..

Same exact thing happened to me this week. I have a 09 TSX and on Friday my iPod just stopped working. I could navigate the iPod but no audio would play. I reconnected everything, updated the iPod from my laptop and it still wouldn't work. To fix the problem I had to do a hard restart on the iPod. On mine, I had to hold menu/center button together for 5 secs. Once it restarted it fixed the issue.
I have a newer generation Ipod nano that I've been using every since I bought my car last July..no issues at all and I love the sound. When I got in my car a few weeks ago, the ipod did not play any music. All the data is on the navi screen (tracks, artist, etc)..but no sound. I disconnected it a few times and reconnected, but to no avail. The ipod itself is working fine when I disconnect it and plug in the earphones. Then a few days later, I tried it and it worked fine for about 2 weeks, to only not work again...I can't seem to figure it out. I also checked all connections. Any idea what could be happening?? I'm stumped....I'm going to bring it to the dealer in two weeks when I'm back in the area.

I had this issue with the gen 4 ipod touch. I updated to iOS 4.3 and it would not work. Did a hard reset but holding the power button and home key together till the device shut down. Turned the car off and then back on again and it started working.
