Touch input is actually very easy to get working with it, but yea functionality is limited. No navigation app that I know of.
I just put that in until my android stick shows up.
Wires are routed to my center armrest storage for now so it's easy to swap devices.

It is a Nexus 7 being Held in place with Mountek nGroove Magnetic Mount. Was dumb luck it got wedged in there accidentally, but now I have it set up pretty nicely. No changes to anything and it holds in place nicely. Only issue I have is every once in a while my hand brazes the touch screen, but I am going to remove apps from that part and it won't be an issue anymore.

Did you take out the storage thing there and actually put it inside the dash?

This the mount I using now in Tripod mode with one the legs wedged in the bin door.
Amazon.com: Mountek nGroove Snap 2 Magnetic Car Mount for Smartphones and Mini Tablets: GPS & Navigation
I am going to test this one out.
Amazon.com: iMagnet Cradle-less Universal Phone Mount with Quick-snap Technology, One Hand Smartphone Car Windshield Dashboard Mount Holder for iPhone 4S/5, Galaxy S4/S3/S2, Blackberry Bold, Note 2, Android HTC One: Cell Phones & Accessories
I have drive with it and no problems, but would feel more comfortable with more secured mount.

Just clicked on the first article for a nexus 7 car install. Had no idea there was this much potential for a tablet.

Here are the pics guys:
1. Here is the Mountek nGroove magnetic mount wedged in the storage slot.
2. Overhead loook.
3. Metal plate on the case holding the Nexus 7.
4. Now center the tablet and lower it to the magnet and it just attaches itself to the mount. The magnet is very strong and hold the tablet in place very well and it doesn't more at all. You lose access to coin tray, storage bin and AC Adapter. I just use the center console with dual 4 amp charger for Phone and the tablet.

Just using BT audio and google maps. I have this app "TabletTalk" that syncs with my phone and shows Text messages and Caller ID, and I can answer with steering Button and use HandsFreeLink to talk. Only thing missing the Backup camera but I can live without it.

Thanks for the pics!
Initially I thought the tablet could fit flush in that opening ... but I see it's the mount that can weld in there, and the tablet will fit but it doesn't look as 'factory' as I'd like. But it's a 'portable solution' since you can still take your Nexus 7 tablet.
I think I'll wait for a capacitive touchscreen to come out so I can do an android stick + capacitive touchscreen solution in that little 'box' though.

Try it out and let us know!
I think the middle glove box measures 165mm in width, up to 168 if it is to be wedged between the 2 silver panels on the L and R.
The Samsung 7" tablet is still 187mm in width, so I don't think it will fit ... but someone can do a more exact measurement and let us know!

Charging should not be a huge issue ... here's what I plan to do IF I can find a snug fit tablet (say, 5" or 6" that fits snugly in the center 'glove box')
- Drill holes in the bottom of glove box for charging USB cable. The USB cable will be T-connected to the 12V cigarette lighter plug right beside it
- Install a tablet mount to the bottom of the glove box
The tablet can then be firmly mounted in the glove box, and it can be concealed by closing that door. The tablet will act as media player to the HU via BT, and also work as navigation using google map.
The cabling and tablet mount part is easy ... I just have to find a tablet that fits in the glove box ... or at least in the opening of the glove box if I remove it.

Well, shit.
So my nexus arrived and there is NO way it is going to fit inside that space unless I do a lot of cutting. I might just do that thing itman did with the magnetic mount.... I really wanted a permanent install but I don't think it will work out.
I flashed the car ROM and working on getting the backup cam working. The functionality of the nexus is unmatched.... so I may just have to compromise and not have an in-dash install.

Yeah but I just really like the idea of it being integrated into the dash.... but then again it's nice to be able to take it out, so I don't know.
I'll see if I can get it to fit inside tomorrow.

i ran the video wire through the trunk up to the front - it was really easy.

Let me know how your setup goes ... i'd be very interested in a rear view camera too.
BTW i'm thinking of a tablet like this ...
http://www.dx.com/p/refurbished-chuw...4#.U4iTrZRdUx0
It's a 5" tablet which should fit fine inside the center 'glove box'.
Downside is it's only 800 x 480, not really HD. Probably not a biggie for a screen that small anyways.

it's very close.
So, what I did was dremel the sides slightly... quarter of an inch on each side of the inside of that dash piece. Those parts aren't visible once the trims are in.
ill post a bunch of pics showing everything later.
