2009 - 2010 oem foglight led retrofit

Hello fellow 2g owners. I wanted to share a quick video on the progress of my fog light led retrofit.

I purchased some eagle eye leds from aliexpress and I decided to retrofit these into the 2009/10 oem fog housing.

The 2011+ have the advantage of the morimoto fogs and the 2009/10 owners are out of luck.

I wanted to try something different vs the led bulbs that can be placed into the housing.

I still need to drill out my sheet metal plates which I plan to do soon. Decent progress so far.

Sweet. I always loved that style fog light after seeing them on a few newer cars. I too am looking for an alternative to OEM fog for 09-10. Think I may retrofit JEEP fogs since I read they are about the same size.

update,

its been about a month since i last posted. Ive been pretty busy with work so time has been limited to work on the project. I finally knocked out the assembly today. Now to give a day or so for the silicone to cure and then I can work on the wiring. I already have an external harness for the led light housings currently on the car.

Ill post up a video update once I am ready to do the soldering.

Finally got the wiring completed.

The challenge was deciding how to seal up the oem light housings.

I chose to use the base from the halogen fog light bulbs and dremel out the centers where the pins are located. I then ran the wiring through the halogen bulb base. The reason for this was it allows me to seal up the light the way the oem bulbs do by twisting and locking into place. The right angle shape reduces the changes of water getting though especially with the wiring running through the base.
