Wow I hate my Blade Key Fob on the TSX!!

There are some complaints but not that many in my TSX.

However there are issues that really that we shouldn't be experiencing especially in premium/luxury segment of the car...

It's a minor issue I know but if there is no push start engine/keyfob then get the key fob to be solid in return... but no...

I saw many forums regarding the cheap plastic metallic thing on the button that peels off so easily. what is this?

anyways, if they don't give us feature that should be standard in 30k segment cars, at least they should have got the quality of the key... disappointed...

Is there any skins that fit on the keyfob? I know there aren't any in ebay or elsewhere cause I have 2nd key that is like new so i want to protect that one at least... and i don't want the case...

thanks

I think all the cars from Acura that require a key use this same kind. Yeah it's cheap. The one problem I have with mine is after it's in the ignition, it sometimes won't stay straight, like it will start to close on it's own. I think the lock that keeps the key open is starting to loosen.

yea so does mine.. but not that much loose but it will after a year or so ㅜㅜ

Okay, so I thought I saw a TSB for the issue we both have and I did. I'm not sure what year your TSX is, but from 09-12 they replace the key case to fix the lock problem.

If that doesn't open, do what this thread says and the link is under 2010 that says: Retractable Master Key Does Not Lock in Its Extended Position.

I wish, but no. Lol. They replace the key case if the lock is worn down. But in the process, the back plate of the key will be changed. Open the TSB if you still don't know what I'm talking about lol.

Care to provide a link? I just looked and saw a bunch of covers for the older key models.

Either way, you do have the same key as the rest of us, if they give you crap about it being a 2013, just b**** at them and tell them it's the same damn key regardless of year.

I think you might be right about scraping it off though lol. I've thought about painting it somehow, maybe plasti dip or something. Then you could change the buttons into whatever color you want!

Now all we need is someone's keys to use as a test dummy.

Not bad, but it doesn't have the cut out for the panic button. Shouldn't really matter, but that's just me being picky. Good find still.

Believe me I looked. I have this one. This style is it, and none have the panic cutout.

They are just ok. Little bit of a Lint Magnet.

rawger 04-24-2014 02:04 PM

True. Yeah I'd think that's also an issue since its silicone or rubber material. I think I'll give it a shot anyways. Thanks again.

I might just scratch off the silver. Then paint the symbols with white/red paint.

I bought this as well. Did not fit well and pressing the buttons was difficult. Also bulky.

rawger 04-24-2014 08:23 PM

That's what I thought would happen. The leather is probably too stiff to actually push down the buttons. Bad design IMO. And a rip off.

I was going to buy this, but thanks for the heads up.

I will try to create a cover for my driver 2 key, which I still need to buy since my tsx never came with the 2nd key, dealers asking for way to much.

SinCityTLX 04-25-2014 11:36 PM

I have no complaints with my fob. I have jumped in the pool and lake with it and it continues to work fine. It is tough as nails

Wasn't there a time others were trying to convert their regular key to a blade?
