Winter came early

Winter Solstice does not officially arrive until Dec 22, 2010, but she came early to Metro Vancouver. About 4 inches of the white stuff came down, glad to report the stock 17" Michelin A/S work flawlessly.

damn tech 4 inches already! I thought you were going with dedicated winters? I installed 215/60/16 Toyo G-02 plus winters on 16 inch steelies last week.

Are you worried about plowing snow over there with the skirts on?

^When the stock Michelin wears out, I will put snow tires on the stock rims. No problem with the snow with the skirts, if the snow accumulate more than 10 inches then I will start to worry.

Happy Thanksgiving to our neighbour to the south.

Here's another picture outside my office in downtown Vancouver.

Tech, your car looks great even in the snow. Is that Canada Place? I've got some fond memories of being there a few years ago.

Just had Thanksgiving prime rib (decided to do lunch this year), would be even more perfect if it was snowing outside.

Happy Thanksgiving MrOto. Prime Rib... You are making me hungry.

Yes, that's Canada Place, I work just two blocks away from Waterfront. It's going to be an interesting drive home, still snowing in the Fraser Valley where I live.

I agree with you Tech these stock A/S tires are pretty good
I work in Langley and we had 5 inches of white powder here and no problem at all.

Richmond wasn't TOO bad. Except i spent all day shoveling and putting salt everywhere at work. As well as brushing off snow off every car on the lot.

And yeah I agree, the stocks aren't bad at all. I had plans of getting winter tires, but it doesn't seem like I will have to spend that extra money.

side note: quattro is awesome. so are landrovers/rangerovers.

^That's a lot of hard work, which dealership you work for?

My drive home to Langley was thankfully uneventful, most snow turned into slushy ice on the main road, back to rain for the weekend.

I will put snow tires on the stock rims as the Michelin wear out, their replacement cost of C$250 is too steep. I rather spend the extra money on my 19" rims when the Yokohama Advan Sports wears out (much lower wear rating ~ something like 180).

09TSXTech - How did you find the Stability/Traction control system to work out? I know trying to get across an interesection in the rain if there happens to be oil on the road is a scary thing. Rather than it balancing the power to each wheel it just seems to shut down the throtttle which slows the car down SO much it seems awfully dangerous. Just curious. I'm in New Jersey and if last year was any indication, I'll have plenty of opportunties to test it out. lol.

We had snow in NY yesterday, but it did not accumulate. I wonder when our first real storm will be.

It hit 41 degrees in SF Bay Area, and it hit 48 degrees in LA. Also, it hit 38 degrees in SB.

Maybe those environmentalist are right about all that Global Warming crap? Hahah. Seriously, its getting cold everywhere.

Surprisingly, there hasn't a flake in Boston area 'til now.
Normally, we have at least one round of snow before Thanksgiving, some early at Halloween, but this year, has not.
I expect there will be a lot of it sooner or later.
