Why would you cancel the TSX? A plan to buy...
Hey guys, help me understand something here. Like many others on this forum, I am deciding between a TSX and BMW 3 series within the next year and half (end of 2013). In the back of my mind, I know economically, the TSX is a better choice on where I'm at financially; and that I should get the TSX now and wait a few years and replace our second car with a 3 series.
My plan got messed up when hearing about Acura's possible cancellation of the TSX after the 2013 model year or somewhere around that? Is that because of the ILX? Why would you cancel a model that has good sales records since 2004? Honda has sold around 30,000 TSX units every year. The CL didn't even go over 31,000 units in its entire 3 year run, so I understand cancelling that one! I know you can't have too many sedans close to one another, but I find it hard to understand you would cancel historically good-selling car. I'm probably not interested in the TSX wagon.
If they do that, I am out of a good-value luxury sedan, since all the others are approx $10k or more than the TSX (G37, IS350, 328i).

I haven't read any of the ILX/TSX threads but if I had to guess, it would have to be the fact that the Accord is going blobal and Honda will no longer have a JDM/EURO only version to market here as the TSX. TSX and TL would then merge as the new TLX and will probably the same size as the last gen TL. Purely speculation on my part.

i agree on the value of the TSX, you can't beat it! one of the important things i like about the tsx is it's built in japan, which people still value. the fit and finish is excellent. that being said, all the bmw 3 series i've tested and sat in, also have excellent build quality. i guess it's just the reliability of the parts.
i think they will not cancel the tsx. many people think honda has made some bad decisions in the past, but i'm being optimistic and think the tsx will remain. they will maybe see how the ILX is selling first. these are purely guesses again!

Per Car and Driver, the tsx competes with the buick regal and vw cc http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...omparison-test

the g25, the c250, and the is250 are the models that don't really "compete" with the tsx. And, I would say that for the added cost, they offer a bit more sophistication and better fit in finish as compared to the tsx.

yeah, but those are the cars that people consider in the real world along with buying the tsx. even at work, people have discussions on which "entry-level" luxury car to buy: TSX, 328i, IS250 or 350, CTS, G sedan
