Where does the Front Passenger Airbag deploy from?
My daughter was riding with me and asks the question, "Where does the Front Passenger Airbag deploy?". She said the whole top of the dash-board probably lifts up. I said, maybe that's why the top of the dash-board is made of Styrofoam.
So does anyone know where the front Passenger air bag deploys?

Yes, it deploys into the windshield first then forward to minimize the impact. Of course the dual stage inflators also play a role in minimizing injury.

Forced Induction
Most new cars have the passenger bag rip out from the dash, I personally don't like the idea of having to replace the entire dash if you ever have to replace the airbag.
But then again, the bags don't deploy unless there is a serious impact, so most of the cases where they do deploy, the car is probably totaled.

Definitely the same situation with the side airbags. They will destroy the seat when they deploy, but if they do, you probably have bigger things to worry about...

Thanks guys.
There are NO visible indentations on the Dash Top Cover to indicate the exact area of deployment.
Colin, are you saying the air bag deploys at the front of the windshield? If so, then the Dash Top Cover lifts on the passenger side, next to the windshield, and somehow avoids contact with the passenger.

This is also the reason that the side airbags come out of the seat bolsters. Acura found that on door mounted airbags, there were potential for arm injury (amputation) from the flap if a persons arm was in the way.
