What should I do?

This is my wife’s 09 TSX, 2.4. Supposedly the local shop found this part leaking tranny fluid. It was a seal I forgot what he said it was.

But he quoted
$200 to fix this seal
$400 for trans service
$400 for spark plugs
$140 for new serp belt

seems steep. Serpentine belt I get it, it looks super easy to access but hourly rate at 100, 1 hour labor?

but what’s shocking is that the spark plugs and trans service. He insists that flush would be fine at this mileage (147k). I feel like doing drain and fill 3 times instead and with Valvoline maxlife that most people use here, if I had someone who can do oil change, it’ll be literally $200 at most.

spark plug access seems to be very easy too and even with NGK laser iridium, I can’t see it being more than $200 really.

What would you suggest if you were in my position? What do other shops/Honda or Acura dealers usually charge for spark plugs and trans service?

I suggest DIYing what you can and let him fix the seal

Seals can be tricky. The drain and fill is pretty easy job if you want to dig and save money. I'm not sure how much fluid will leak out during the seal change. Find another quote if you don't want to diy
