Wait for 2010 or go for 2009?

Hello everyone,

I am a new member to these forums. And I am planning on getting a new TSX soon. I've heard rumors on other forums that the 2010 TSX will be on the street sometime in June. I am wondering if I should wait for the 2010 which is going to be pretty expensive since it just came out, or buy the 2009 now since it will be on clearance, since they need to make room for the 2010 TSX's. I am looking to buy the V-4 trim anyways not the new V6. I've heard people say that other than the new V6 trim everything in the V-4 2010 TSX is basically same as the 2009 TSX, is this true? And what do you all recommend? Right now I’m leaning on 2009 TSX with Tech package.

Thanks in advance,

win2k8

I'd wait for the 2010 just to see if they work out some '09 first year bugs.

I usually wait till a year or two after a new model comes out to buy it. In this case, I totaled my previous car and needed to get something pretty quick. Luckily, I haven't experienced much 1st year bugs other than the driver seat cover unclipping.

i was actually supposed to get a 09 this month but since they didnt have my color and trim left (white on black base), the salesperson is giving me a 2010 for the same deal. its coming first week of june and i cant wait! and btw, there is virtually no 09 bases left, only tech cars..

Good luck, and welcome to the boards.

Oh, and it's an I4, not V4.

There's no such thing as a V4. All 4 cyl engines are inline. The '09 and '10 are identical, save for the coming V6 option. Other than the seat clip thingy, at 7500 miles I haven't experienced any of the bugs people have been complaining about - yet. I'm shocked it's mostly tech '09s left. I thought that they would have been more desirable over the base, no? I guess like me most forewent the $3k Acura Nav and got a $250 Garmin instead.

When I got my TSX recently, it took them forever to find a base with the colors i wanted. They had to talk to a bunch of dealers before finding it.

but yeah no more bases left only tech.

Maybe they made less bases. No reason to think that bases are in more or less demand, how would we know?

Actually they made V4's back in the 60's and 70's. I remember my uncle drove a V4 Ford Capri in Europe back in the 70's. Nowadays, you can only find V4's in motorcycles.

Base model is a great value. The Tech pkg is good, but i am not sure if it is worth the premium.

Don't forget about the backup camera. It's really helpful when backing out into traffic. The fisheye lens lets you peer left and right very effectively. It assists with tight parallel parking, both getting in and getting out. If you live in a big city you'll wonder how you lived without it.

I have to agree with you completely. When I bought the car, I laughed at the idea of the backup camera. Thought I'd never use it. OMG, it's awesome. It's by far the feature of the tech package that I use the most, and its allowed me to park in many spaces I would never dare park in otherwise (I'm not so great at parallel parking)

Some bad news here...

Just found that the local dealer here wont get any 2010 TSX's into inventory until October.. So, I have no choice to go with the 2009 TSX, because I am really near selling my current car, just did some re-painting and doing some detailing this weekend on it....

I dunno though he may be lying to me... so that I buy the 2009 TSX instead. How could it be so off, I heard lots of places June, but October?!

I may call some other dealers around me to find out when their 2010 TSX inventory is coming in.

Thanks,

win2k8

Also, to add to above I even saw a video online where the CEO of Acura said the new 2010 TSX will be coming out Summer 2009. Infact it even says on Acura.com that the 2010 Acura TSX is coming Summer 2009. I know this guy is playing me a fool for sure. I think I may have answered my own question.

Thanks,

base model is at a better pricing point for most buyers, which is why there's less inventory. That and the fact that you can get a good portable GPS at a fraction of the cost....

backup cameras are nice i'm sure. I've seen 'em before, but by no means a feature that I'm willing to pay a premium for.

Your car salesman at the dealer may be playing you in order to push inventory out the door. He's probably just playing off your emotions. Be sure to keep it cool and negotiate a deal, because right now you defintiely can.

I know the 2010 will be nice and surely there's a lot of buzz around it, but the 2009 is still one hell of a car!

Honestly I haven't experienced any first year bugs of note and we know that some bugs were worked out in mid-year. There's a good chance that there will be absolutely no difference between the '09 and '10 I4. I'd get an '09 again without hesitation.

I presently own an 06 tsx but I am planning to replace it April 2010 with either the tl if it gets the manual transmission or another tsx. My tsx has almost 83,000 problem free miles

The first of the 2010s have been ordered. Should be in most stores within 2 months. V-6s have NOT be ordered in this first batch. No idea when they will offer them on the order sheet.

This is what i find amazing about the TSX...very few (if any) first year bugs. And none of the bugs that you read about on this forum is major...more of an annoyance to some people.

It's built in Japan! Go figure !

Remember all the problems the 3G TL had? It's built in Ohio, US. So much for 'buy American'!!

Since Acura has stopped manufacturing 09 TSXs, all the 2009 has been sitting in sun-baked lots collecting dust since December 2008. If you like a "fresh" model, wait for the 2010 while they iron out some bugs, and add a few minor features. Once the 2010s come out, they might have better deals on existing 2009s also

Does the base come with the iPod integration or the upgraded sound? Those together with the back up camera and nav makes it worth it. I would try to wait until the 10s come out. I am sure dealers are willing to make deals especially on the 09s as the 10s come out.

Base models have the USB plug but not the DVD audio system. There are always deals to be had but you often trade your first choice in color for that discount as inventory dwindles. Also note the following message:
Program end date changed from 7/6/09 to 6/1/09
Acura Division of American Honda Motor Co. pays $750 Dealer Cash
So the factory is removing the marketing support from the TSX on 6/1, a month earlier that expected. Probably because inventory levels are low enough.

I don't see a compelling reason not to get the 2009 tsx unless you want the v6. I don't think there's any change to it other than the nav lcd screen that reduces glare.

so, that means the 2010's should have better deals?

I doubt that. If the factory isn't offering an extra 750 to dealers, they can't pass it along to you.
