Vin mixup?

Got a call today from my insurance company saying the VIN on my TSX doesn't match the VIN that was on the contract.

I was pretty much insuring someone else's 09 TSX up until now.

The dealer apparently wrote a different VIN on my contract.

Is this something I should be worried about?

Not worried, but you will be inconvenienced. Call sales consultant to verify that you have the wrong VIN on your paperwork. You will probably need to resign all your contracts (if you have a loan) and check with your local DMV too. Otherwise, it could look like you're in a stolen car.

Yet you call that nothing to worry about?

The dealership I bought my old car from also put the wrong VIN down (because they had done a trade for the one I wanted). Title, insurance, registration, all had the wrong stuff and needed to be redone.

I'm sure it could be a simple error, but just be careful.

What? That is what I said. So yeah. It's nothing to spend time wringing your hands and worrying about. Just get on with it and fix it.

Insurance companies screw up on that a lot. gotta love getting letters from the CA DMV saying that your reg is going to be suspended because you dont have insurance (since in CA you have to have liability to have your car registered), and in reality its just because your insurance company mistyped the VIN. Happened to my sister.
