Valet damaged my car
My wife went to a spa in a town near us that provided valet service. When she got into the car and was about to leave the place she noticed that the passenger mirror housing of the car was broken with some pieces missing.
The valet company admitted the guilt and agreed to pay for repairs but so far it is reluctant to give us their insurance company info.
They did agree to pay out of pocket for the repairs needed.
I called my Acura dealer and was referred to a body shop that gave me an estimate of $950 for a new mirror and $485 for a used one.
The written estimate was prepared only for the new replacement, but the option of getting a used one was mentioned.
The valet company wants to negotiate with the body shop directly. Should I allow that? Should I agree to a used part solution.
The car is 2013 TSX and I am not sure I can insist on a new part. On the other hand I do not trust used parts.
They may have been assembled from several damaged parts and are more likely fail in the future.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Tell the body shop what you want (a new mirror in this case). Tell them to stick to that course of action.
And then put the valet company in touch with the body shop. They probably just want to confirm the charges.

Definitely request a new mirror for sure. This wasn't something you did so the car should be returned back to previous condition with new parts. Also make sure they are OEM and not third party supplied parts but I doubt there are third party mirror replacements for it.
