TSX v6-tech, 32,988k, deal or NO deal?
It all started Friday after work/school. I am currently interning (I am going be a teacher) at an elementary school and after the day ended I went over to acura to check out this gem. I have been eyeing the TSX for the past 8 months and this is exactly what I want;PWP, v6, black interior, tech.
I just had to look at it and make sure the price was what it was. After two hours and the salesmen "trying" to get me to buy the car, I finally left. i never should of went anways because I currently don't have a job because of my internship that I needed to focus on. By the way, it is not a paid internship.
I am still going to get this same car brand new once I get my job, just curious if this is really a good deal? I test drove it and it rides great, it has 1,7xx miles on it so it brand new just as well as smelling brand new.
Oh yea, 3 other TSX's came over from a dealer that shut down, these were their loaners.

No, I don't think you will get a new one for less than that. You said V6 tech, which has an MSRP of around $38k. Just under $33k sounds like a pretty good deal to me.
Also, you can check Edmunds.com for TMV, or true market value in your zip code (to see what others are paying in your area).
But obviously, don't do anything till you get a paying job.

^Correct, 38k(about) is the msrp. I could make the payment until I got hired in August, however it is not a good choice to buy the car without the job. In retrospect I am glad my father did not co-sign for me, but I wanted to see what I was missing

I think it's a good deal, you could get a 4 tech for the same price new if you wanted but this car has low mileage.

They may not even give you a loan without a job anyway. Just sit tight and wait till you are hired. Less pressure for you. You never know what can happen, especially with this economy. Could you imagine having a $30,000 loan with no job?
The car can wait.
The car can wait.

Well, I could have gotten it if my father co-signed, but it wasn't happening. In no way am I mad at him for that, I totally understand. All I have is the custom work on the side that I do, but it is not succifent enough. At any rate, when the time comes, I will purchase a new one, but gee it is funny what some of these salesman do to get a sale. I can see right through them. "Brian, I want to sell you this car, you deserve this car, I don't want to sell it to anyone else" I rather have a salesmen just tell me I want to make a sale then to BS me.

save your money
Even if its a good deal, don't buy it. Buy a super cheap used car. Secure a job, get things in order. Save your money until you can afford to pay cash for the car you want. Financially speaking, a nice car is a luxury that should be purchased AFTER all loans are paid off and savings and retirement are in order.

Suppose his side job dries up? When he does get a permanent job in August, that is when he should begin looking at getting a new car. I hate to say this but there is no guarantee that he will find a teaching job in August anyway. Two of my friends who are teachers, the one graduated last year and has still not found a permanent teaching position, he is subbing daily. The other has been working at one school and is looking to move somewhere else for about two years now. Everything varies by location but to say go for it now even if you finances are in order with no steady job is just bad advice.

I absolutely love my TSX but every month when I look @ how much I could be saving if I just bought an old Civic or something, a part of me dies. You need to be saving your money...
I live a pretty moderate lifestyle and pay pretty cheap rent, but I definitely have to make sacrifices financially in order to keep the TSX going. Don't forget a car is a huge commitment... gas, insurance, maintenance, etc. My B1 service is due and that's gonna cost me $200...
I'm just giving you my because your thoughts are very much shared by us men when we shop for cars (it's like women and jewelry), and I can tell by your post you would regret it, especially on a first year teacher's salary!

Im glad I didnt go through with it and honestly, I knew I wasn't going to get the car when I went to the dealership. All i wanted to see was how much it would cost a month, but of course they never give you a straight answer, even when I told them what I would put down and what not.
At any rate, I am glad to stick with my accord until i get my job!

Looking at the price that is a good deal. I take back what i said. The invoice on a new model minus the $1500 cash to dealer is 33782. Iwonder if the price they advertise for this one is negotiable.

I think it's a good deal. I got mine two weeks ago for $33,500 brand new, and that's after a lot of haggling back and forth. They did throw in the all season floor mats for free though. Since yours has 1k miles on it, $32,900 -ish is not a bad deal. With the 2.9% financing, you should go for it if you want it. It's a great car!

That's a 'decent' price. You can get it lower if you play your cards right. Sales guys just want to make $ .. it's their job. They won't make any money if they lower the price. I used to sell brand new Toyotas...
