No, I do not like the design. Acura is heading in the wrong direction.

Clubman, or Mini, maybe a little too small, my experience wth the previous generation leads me to suspect their overall quality. Otherwise, close on price and fuel economy.
Altima, Camry and Accord are all too large for my tastes and no HID right?
Volvo? Nah, I think I'd rather have a Mazda 3 (on which it's based)
The 1 series will probably require a number of option packages to get my requirements and I'm not optimistic that it will stay under 30K.
It really comes down to IS 250 and TSX. Locally, you can't lease a Lexus because the local dealer is not a part of Toyota USA, however it is the closest.
CGTSX2004, on your points: If you can live with the TL-S' clutch, the car is pretty impressive. It also continues with the touch screen navi if that is important to you.

As for the TL-S, drove one today. The clutch is ok, not great, but not atrociously difficult to get used to like the one on the G35. Getting back in the TSX, I felt like the TSX is a tad more communicative of where the clutch engagement point is, but overall, the feel is similar. It does feel like a much larger car, which takes some getting used to. Gotta say that the taupe interior is quite attractive. Touch screen...eh, I don't really care. Doubt I will be using the navi much in this area as I know it pretty well. I personally don't mind the knob control system since my family's current RL has it and I rather like it on that.
Still working out the numbers, but we're getting close.

You are definitely a minority on this issue. I understand and like the interface dial too but there is so much resistance among the press and others. Hey good luck on the TL-S. Did you see my thoughts on it? Look here and let me know if you agree. TL-S First Drive

I think we had that exchange about compromises in another thread. I guess I am trying to decide how to allocate my compromises. The TL-S is a very substantial feeling car in some respects and lacking in others. I guess I am fully weighing everything before I sign the papers, but my desire for a change right now is driven as much by my desire to switch to a light color car as it is fueled by my usual need a new car itch.

The shifter is pretty nice, did you notice under the boot the gear lever is actually 'kinked' towards the driver? BTW, the Taupe is a nice interior. It requires a little more care, but nothing a true car lover wouldn't bestow on their baby....Scratch that itch baby, scratch that itch!

Based on photos and videos, I don't like the new TSX at all. The front end styling is incongruous and unattractive, and the grill is positively horrid. I like the rear end, it's updated and cool. The interior is nice, as usual for an Acura/Honda. But without some additional oomph, this probably won't be my next car. I was excited at the prospect of SH-AWD and hoping for a 2.4 liter n.a. with direct injection and 240 hp or so.
I much prefer the more compact styling of the current TSX, which doesn't look like a tarted-up Accord at all. That's what this car looks like to me. It doesn't impress me as an improvement on the original, but rather a fattening up where it didn't need it and no added muscle where it could use it.
Makes my decision to keep my beloved '04 so much easier. Not feeling it.

For the most part, It looks good. The only thing I really hate is the front grill. the lines around the fender are a little too sharp along with some of the lines on the bumper.

I really hate that lower egg-carton grill. However, the rest of the car looks great to me, and the slight increase in wheelbase will lead to a bigger back seat, which is a good thing. I am pretty surprised at how often I have passengers in the back seat of my '04 TSX. From what I am reading, the slight increase in width helped the handling, which is always good. The increase in weight was a big mistake. The car needed to get lighter, not heavier. On balance, it gets a thumbs-up from me, as long as I can have the diesel engine with 200+ lbs/ft of torque.

Go back to those theads. Some of the statements are hilarious and extreme. Now, all of a sudden, 06-08 TSX is so classic compared to the new one. Please..Let me give you a bold statement and prediction here.
In six months after the release of the 09 TSX, which would be in OCT. The second gen TSX forum is going to be huge, and I bet you a bunch of 1st gen owners are going to upgrade. Nicer wheels, a little tint, the new Apect body kit will make the 09 look killer. You know why? Because the cars LOOK similiar!! lol..They just made some changes to make it look modern.
I personally like all new tech toys. The current model was really bare of tech compared to the other Acuras.

While waiting for some stuff on my car, I was talking to a salesman, not the guy I happened to buy from, btw. And he said he hates the new TSX now that he's seen it. They had 3 black and 3 grey, diff interiors. He hadn't seen the new RL but I told him it was actually debuted before the TSX. But since Acura didn't send them any, he hadn't seen it. He said he didn't like to see it online bc it always looks different to him in person. He said he HATES that he is going to have to sell the new TSX bc he HATES it, whereas he loved the 1st gen and loved selling them.
He happened to like the current RL and when I told him that the new one looks worse than the new TSX, he got a lil annoyed and that was when we decided to talk about Legends and RSXs and when Acura had simply amazing cars that everyone wanted. After seeing the 2009 in person, the one thing I like about it most is that the door does not have a door lock sticking up from it. My Civic didn't but my 08 TSX does and it's a lil annoying. Other than that, it's pretty ugly. I did like the Taupe color a lil better than the Quartz bc it's darker and probably a lil more forgiving than the Qtz. It seemed more plush too but they wouldn't let me go inside, so I don't really know. I don't like the big job wheel either. I wished they would have brought other colors. I wanted to see the bloody stool one in person and I wanted to see silver or white bc those are the best colors for this TSX IMO. They grey isn't that bad but it doesn't knock your socks off like Carbon Grey Pearl and I don't believe it will change hues in different light, like CGP either. It's a pretty flat grey. I hate the black w/ Parchment...looks dull but then again, it has just rained and the cars weren't exactly clean.

Thanks for the pics!
I'll have to wait to see it in person but I'm really not feeling the styling in the pics we've seen so far. Of course I hated the Accord sedan before I saw it in person so I hope this thing changes my mind as well.

How they can fawk up something so simple is beyond my level of comprehension. Those wheels are awful, and no that can't be argued nor is it subjective.
It angers me considering how simple wheel choice should be.

BTW, did any of those have window stickers?
#64
It's technically illegal to display a car on a dealership lot without a window sticker. However most dealers have a prep area that may be in plain view so sometime its unavoidable.

It's a brand new dealership. They just moved to this location and it's huge.

Don't like it. Grille's ugly, car's bloated, it's more expensive and not any faster or more nimble than the 1G. There are any number of cars I'd rather own before a 2G TSX.

Oh God I just saw the pics Civic2TSX posted and I'm aghast at how ugly that thing is. The front end and front 3/4 angle are by far the worst offenders, the rear is almost passble.
The front of the car looks like a bird with a huge beak. The whole car has a "cheap" look to it.

I heard from people that this car is heavier so I wonder how fast it will be in acceleration wise since it has more torque but with the added weight. Please post the feeling of the acceleration power when test driving one.

Thanks for the pics, still not feeling it at all. As sleek as the IS250 is, and the G35, and the new BMW128i, etc., I think Acura did a terrible job in both styling and design. This car should absolutely have been engineered to take the 2.3L turbo from the RDX. SH-AWD would likely have pushed it out of its price point, so I understand that.
The first-gen is a special car; this car is not and the early reviews are already reflecting that. I have lusted after plenty of new cars, it's not that I'm biased by owning an '04. This is absolutely not a car I'd buy. That's okay, though, I'll have my TSX another five years and by then, the NEXT redesign will be out!
