Tire Review: Continential DW

The tire size is stock 225 50 17.

The performance in dry and wet is pretty good in spirited driving.

If you drive on the freeway alot, don't buy these tires. They will buldge in the middle and wearout more in the centre....as the tire pressure increase on freeway driving.

My two left tires had chunks of thread coming off and I could actually see the belts. The tires have less than 12k miles on them, so they are fairly new. I called continential and they said they would pay 25% of my new tires. I paid about 750 for the tires used them for about 2 seasons and they are already wrecked.

I would recommend these tires if you don't drive very aggressively, otherwise I cannot recommend them as they wore out too fast for me. The side wall and side tread wore out the fastest.

I've had these on my new wheels for about 2 weeks. I dont have any complaints on them so far. I've driven an average of 10.5k miles/ year in the two years I've had my car. More than 50% of those miles come from driving to Houston and back every month or two (500 miles round trip). I plan on putting my stockies back on for these trips in the future, but we'll see how well I stick to that. They are currently at around 37 psi when warm after being on the freeway for a while. What have you been keeping yours at/whats your recommendation?

I don't drive too crazy with these on because the offsets are more aggressive and I am much closer to my fenders now. Hopefully that will help them last longer.

I'd opine that there is an issue with your car.

While DWs are a high performance summer tire, you should be getting 25k miles or so from a set. You are also sending mixed messages.

First you say that the tires wear out in the center first, then you complain about sidewall issues.

Uneven wear is ALWAYS either a car issue or an operator issue.

The DWs tires have a very good reputation and your "review" is just way off from everything else people are reporting about those tires.

Check your car ++

My friend's at 20k freeway miles on 225/45R17 DWs and they're wearing evenly with plenty of tread left.
