We did a white Panamera about two years ago when Nano first came out for the showroom at our biggest account. The finance manager that ordered the kit was off the day the car sold and the other manager didn't realize the car had film on it. Sold the customer on the film and had them bring it back the following Saturday for the install. The customer had the car almost a week and never noticed it was already on the car, we had to tell them when they came back it that it was already done.

Here's Nano on my PWP. Can you see it?

Yeah, and I can post a dark picture in my garage and you can't see mine either.

I stated that Xpel is an offshoot of 3M. The guy that did mine does Panemeras/Lambos/Ferrari's with this stuff and it never yellows and is hard to see.

There is also wax stuck in the line on the hood that I didn't get out.

No offense, you are entitled to your opinion, and I am as well. I trust my installer.

And your installer took you for $900.. Nuff said! Besides, why are you so adamant on being an expert when this is not your trade? I don't do this for a living like Speedy, but I at least have 50+ installs to back up my opinions. If anything Speedy's the subject matter expert here.

Thats a good deal Flip! Typically it's about $500-$600 for a pre-cut kit with install.

He didn't "take" me for anything..the only other "reputable" guys/shops in the Dallas area were at or near the same price and quite frankly were dicks. The headlights and fogs cost more since it's pretty thick stuff. For just the front bumper and hood, it was around $500. I may have paid a little more for personal service and 1:1 care but there isn't really a classified system for you installers so I went with the best I could find.

Not trying to be an expert, just like anything else there are other products/opinions out there

That's not a bad price at $900, especially if you had Norm do the work.

Everyone's costs are different even if its the same film. I have an 1800 sq ft dedicated shop just for paint protection. Twenty percent of what I charge goes there. I'll always get under bid by the guy working out of the trunk of his car...and I don't care.

just dropped off car to get touched up... they said they are gonna put a coat of wax over it to protect it..... i know they cant buffer it today, because the paint has to dry but is it something that should/needs to be done?

thanks.

My milano red has numerous layers of wax but also is covered with rock chips. They are not just on the hood. They are also on the bumper, the front of the sunroof, etc. Others have written that you can wash the car with a clear bra the same as without. Personally I think washing a car with a clear bra would be the same as trying to wash dishes covered in saran wrap

All of you already have some film on your TSXs. Look behind the bottom of the rear doors ahead of the back wheels.

Once the film has had 72 hours to dry, you can wash it gently but should wait 30 days for it to fully cure before you wax it. We suggest only hand wash since some of the touchless ones use harsh chemicals that will prematurely dry rot the rubber around your windows and haze up the headlights. We recommend turtle wax Ice because it is clear, some waxes will actually discolor the film since it has pores in it.

Heres a link on how to properly care for the film:

Wax isn't going to stop paint chips.

I've had a clear bra on my 1G TSX for 6 years and not a single paint chip. So 2 thumbs up for clear bras.

On the other hand the brand I have is Venture Tape (I think) and I am on the 2nd clear bra. The first one seemed to get cloudy and weathered and had to be replaced. The second, which my installer said was improved, is doing the same thing. Not sure if it is the harsh summer heat in Texas or a poor product, but I will stay clear of Venture Tape in the future. Never heard of these new brands but will check them out for my next car. My current plan is to remove the bra just before I sell the car.

Now I have had great luck with this product and touching up paint chips.

http://www.langka.com/

You just use the touch up paint and purposefully leave it a little high. Then after it dries you use the langka and a card covered with a fine cloth. Rub it over the bump and it takes it down flush with the finish. If you do it right you can't tell it is there.

I have a 2012 Red Tsx with the SAME problem!!! I am fighting with the dealership because my cars only 2 1/2 months old! along with when they did the oil change they "complementary wash" they pealed my paint on the back bumper! Did you argue with the Dealership?

I had a Milano Red 04 TSX and after 7 years and 77K miles, I had hundreds, literally, hundreds, of little paint chips on my hood, that is no exaggeration. I just tried not to let it bother me, because there was nothing I could really do. It's not like I was tailgating gravel trucks off-road. You just come to accept Honda's paint as crap and decide whether it's worth it or not. Before that I had a Flamenco Black Pearl 99 Civic Si that had a pretty good number of chips, didn't seem like as many as the TSX, but maybe the black just showed them less. I'm now a little more than a year into a 2011 Graphite Luster Metallic TSX SW and the paint seems to be MUCH better, I'm not sure I have any, though I've not looked as closely as I did with past cars (having a kid will do that to you...). Or maybe it's just the color is roughly the same as the color would be if it were chipped so I don't notice them nearly as much. It's funny, you're upset about 4 or 5 chips, after what I went through with my 04, I'd have been ecstatic to only have 4 or 5. Just learn to live with it. In my opinion, paint chips are alot less frustrating than door dings, in case you were looking for something else to worry about...

I just applied the Dr Colorchip on four very small chips on the TSX and even I couldnt tell there was even a chip. I normally can tell if something on my own car has been repaired but not this one. Good as new.
