Is there really no engine pinging issue for 2011 TSX ?

I am a 2009 TSX/tech auto owner. Of course, engine pining has been bothered me for over two years. It never fixed after 09-041 and PCM updated. I was wondering is there really no engine pining issue for 2011 TSX? If so since the engine and compression ratio is the same for 09 and 11 model. Why Acura can not apply 11 model's PCM or ECM to 09 model to fix the problem. Dose anybody know other solutions perform by dealer beside 09-041 TSB to fix the problem Or can I get another 09-041 redo again at same dealer? Thanks.

I've never heard it either, 6MT, 100 degree or 20 degree weather, no issues.

I've had the wife's 09 CU2 all week as she's out of town. Been 95+ for a few days, and back down in the 80s now...60s in the morning. I haven't heard anything through the rev range all the way to 7k+.
My truck has custom tunes built in it, and I can definitely hear that ping when I have to put in less than stellar fuel. Our CU2 is crazy quiet in comparison.

No pinging here. Over a year and 10,000 miles. 2010 manual.

I'd say that the glare from the Nav screen must be causing the pre-detonation. Sounds about right

Didn't you know that the Tech package bumps the compression ratio to 112:1 thus requiring special space fuel that you can only extra from Uranus? That, in combination with the Nav screen glare, is the real problem.

OP, what type of fuel are you running? Octane, and filling station? I know that my truck runs better, no pinging, with BP and Exxon fuels. Everytime I fill up at a Wawa/Sheetz I get a light ping on heavy acceleration.
For the wife's ride, it helps that the BP down the street from our house is 93 octane. I just hope she remembers to grab the right handle.

I have another vehicle that uses Sunoco 100 octane unleaded...it smells like airplane glue, $7.89 gallon last time I filled up.

Maybe that will cure it. = P

I still get engine ping at around 2300rpm in 2nd gear. It's random when I hear it, but it usually happens when I'm going uphill.

using 93 since owning the car. I bought new from dealer 2 years ago. switch to Exxon 93 for 3 months. It makes no difference than other generic brand. It drives me nuts.

same here, 2nd gear around 2k to 2.5k rpm

sometime gets pinging at revs over 4k rpm. one thing I feel strange is I never gets pining when going any kinds of uphill.

My CU2 is over 3 years old, 6MT Tech, no pinging issue at all. You may want to consider using 91+ octane fuel (non ethanol blend) only.

Chevron Supreme Plus (94) and Shell Premium V Power (91) fuel contain no ethanol up here in Canada. Esso Premium (91) and Chevron Supreme (91) can contain upto 10% ethanol.

What exactly is pinging? I have a 2011 TSX with tech that I only so far have put 99 miles on it. I have noticed a sound when I run over small bumps on the road. It's very faint but it sounds like there's something loose.
Seems like it's coming from the center of the console. No idea where it is really coming from.

Not sure if this is what you all are talking about.

today I have 2010 loaner from dealer. I think it is late 2010 model. I use 87 for the loaner. shit.. sorry about my language, but it is really s.... This loaner has no ping whatsoever, even using 87. I also felt the loaner has even quick shifting than my 09 model. shifting is a lot of smooth than my car. how come it suppose no change fro 09 and 10 model.
another major difference i felt is the suspension is lot of softer than my 09 model. It rides more comfortable than my 09 model and handle bumps well.

Did 2010 model has different suspension?

Hi TSXUSER,

I am in the same boat as you are. I own 09 TSX with 12k miles and the pinging is driving me nuts. I took it to the dealer yesterday and he told me that I need to fill it up with 92+ octane but from your post it seems it does not make any difference.

Can you help me what sort of steps have you taken so far in order to rid of this problem? Did you get an update from Acura Rep?
