Cool Which speakers should Navi voice and HFL be coming from?

Hi all,

A little background: About 7 months ago I had my front driver speaker replaced because it was blown. The speaker is fine now, but no more than a couple days after having it replaced my front right blew on me. Also I noticed after leaving the dealership that the Navigation and HFL voices are only coming out of the front right speaker (which sound awful because it's blown).

Fast forward to this week and I'm finally getting the right speaker replaced. But when I was scheduling the appt, the tech on the phone said he thought the voices are supposed to only come out of the right speaker by design. I thought I remembered them coming out of all speakers, but not coming out of the driver's side when music is on or something.

Before I let the techs at the stealership give me a copout, I wanted to know for sure what's supposed to happen when. If something's not working the way it should I want to make sure it's corrected before my warranty expires. So should the HFL and Navigation be coming out of all speakers, and under what conditions does it cut out of certain speakers? I can't remember because I'm pretty sure the dealership that replaced my left speaker screwed it up.

(Btw, new dealership for this service)

Thanks very much.

That's where mine come from too. Doesn't seem "right" to me either. I also have had blown speaker issues.

For me it comes out of the right speaker only i think. When music is playing, it will cut the music from the right speaker (which is drivers side in Australia) and nav instructions come from there.

What I've noticed it this.

When I am listening to music at any volume, usually not louder then 12, and I make a call using my phone book the volume of the voice "dialling the number received from the navigation system..." or what ever the hell she says is at volume 25+.

I usually go into my phone book to make calls because I find the hands free a lesson in frustration and it never gets the number right most of the time anyway.

So I wonder if the sudden jump in volume is causing the speakers to blow.

I will try using the hands free today and see if the same problem occurs.

That's funny, I could've sworn that mine comes out of the rear. And in going one step further, I had an issue recently where it didn't "reset" after the voice stopped and I didn't have any sound coming out of the rest of speakers, which forced me to turn the system off for a few minutes (upon restarting, it was okay). Again, I could've always sworn that the voice was coming from the rear.

I'll check a little closer the next time I am in the car...

EDIT: I have had 4 speakers replaced thus far, and the car just turned a year old [purchase-wise]; every single door speaker has been replaced.

I paid really close attention today, and this is what mine seems to be like also...it is definitely coming out of the front left speaker for sure.

I haven't checked, but might this information be in the owner's manual somewhere? Which speakers operate when? It sounds like different people are having different experiences...
