Should I buy new TSX or wait for new TLX?

Hello everyone.
I am thinking about buying a new TSX but should I wait for the new TLX instead? I am worried the resale value is going to suffer a lot after the TSX are no longer made. Do you think the TL will also suffer in resale value?

TL's resale value will be much worse than the tsx's as TL's sell slow compared to the tsx. I think you should wait for the TLX but at the same time you'd have to wait till the second year of the TLX for them to get quite a few bugs fixed. I've heard the tsx will be made for another year? So if it were me I'd buy a tsx and then trade it in two years from now.

Where did you get that information?GoodCarBadCar ranks the TL at #67 while the TSX (combined wagon and sedan) comes in at #78. Removing the wagon (which sold a dismal 158 units in July), the TSX sedan would come in below the Buick Regal and just above the VW CC at #83. Even the ILX outsells the TSX.

The TLX should debut late in 2014. Does the OP need a car now or can he wait? Is he OK with dealing with first year woes?

Since the TSX will not be replaced (rather the TSX and the TL will both be dropped and a new car added), I find it unlikely that the TSX's value will drop. The new car will (since it must fill the gap left by the TSX and the TL) presumeably be larger and more expensive, I'd think that there will continue to be a strong demand on the second hand market for the TSX and you may actually find resale increasing.

+1 on ceb's info. tl's never sold slow compared to tsx's. stop giving bad info without proof. i believe in all the sales of tsx/tl's there was only one month where the tsx's outsold the tl's.

If i was OP I'd just go ahead an buy a TSX if I can't wait another year for the TLX. I expect the TSX to have a good resale value as well.

I see little sense in waiting for something you know nothing about - no specs, no pricing, no leaked photos, no nothing - just some internet rumors.

2012 was supposed to be the last year of the TSX, then 2013, now 2014.

Will anyone like the TLX? Will it have features I want? Just because it is the latest doesn't mean it will be the greatest.

The last gen TL or TSX pricing didn't drop like a rock because the new versions came out and there are plenty of examples (the 2013/2014 Mercedes E is an example) where the "old" version was much more popular that the later version.

Me? If I need/want a new car now I'd get a TSX. If not, then I "might" wait until something definitive came out on the TLX.

Most everyone here is quite pleased with their TSXs. Some of us came from more powerful/more prestigious/more expensive cars and still like/love the TSX.

What would sway me to the TLX? A diesel, AWD wagon - that ain't gonna happen so I'll be very happy with my TSX wagon.

As cool as it would be to have the new model when it first come out, I wouldn't want to deal with the problems that arise in a first year model car.

All things considered, no one can really answer your question but you.

Oh my bad, I've heard a few people say that about the TL vs TSX so I just went with it. It'd be great if resale value increased .

maybe it's because my 2009 tsx (purchased july of 2008) has been near flawless but i think the "first year bugs" are overblown, especially in this day and age

You're lucky, mine has been plagued with all sorts of junk. But even taking first year bugs out of the equation, I have learned that with Honda/Acura it is best to wait a few years into the model's production if you can, as later models tend to get more/better things.

Ceb you should reread my post. I recommended OP go ahead buy a TSX. He just asked if he should by now or wait later on the TLX, he never mentioned if he was in a time crunch or anything. If anything I'd buy the TSX because I can find info readily about the car. The TLX more than likely won't have anything released about it for the next few months for all we know. As for Acura's resale. You know just as well as I know it has good resale. I said I expect the tsx to have a good resale value as well. What we do know is the TSX and TL will be around for the 2014 MY. So it's not a surprise if the TLX is a 2015 model.

Now if OP feels like he can wait, he may find out more about the TLX within the next few months or so. If anything I expect the TLX to go the same route as the MDX. Rumors, spy shots, reveiling the prototype at a major auto show, release pricing/specs, then sale date. All that seems to happens within a year, year and a half. I do remember seeing a link of a heavily camo'd acura vehicle that was assumed to be the TLX, but I'm still holding judgment on that.

No need to apologize. I more than likely misread your post. We've both accomplished the same goal: to help the OP on an important financial decision.

wish I could forsee the future-I would have done lots of things I put off waiting. If you want buy the tsx now and if you like what acura has in store for the future models-either sell, trade or keep that tsx and buy the new model. why wait for something that may or may not happen. Live for today.

IIRC, your car was also involved in an accident that caused all of your issues. I don't think you can blame the car for that - or is my memory failing?

Found it https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tsx-2009-2014-143/my-09-tsx-may-no-more-849453/ - your issues have nothing to do with your car but are accident or repair related.

I agree with you. I like both cars though the infiniti does catches my eye more overall. The DRLs on the new IS series definitely catches my attention at 1st.

Your memory is failing, as I had 6 blown speakers, a bad XM module, a trim piece that kept popping off, dash bubbling, etc., etc. loooooong before the accident. Also, my XM antennae went bad long before the accident as well and needed to be replaced but I did not take the time to get that done until after the accident.

I love my tsx but i'd not wait and buy or lease one now and by the time lease or it's your third year, trade them in for the new one... i don't think first year car would be very reliable... or you never know you'll like the car or not..

negotiate a really good value on a TSX and look to trade it in when you want to upgrade... I am excited about the TLX idea IF it gets the RLX engine and drive assist, that car handles very well... BUT the key word is IF, we don't know anything definitive yet

Fixed it for you.

There is no word about the TLX at all. For all we know it is vaporware.
