Reverse Camera

Has anyone been able to hack into the system to operate the camera other then putting the car in reverse?

no.

it would be super simple though.
we hook it up to come on when it's in reverse only
on purpose. there's no need for it if you're not
in reverse. and if you did it any other way, you'd need
to install a custom switch for it and such.

which is too much of a pain for no reason.
but yes, it can be done. quite easily too.

but for what reason?

2. People who tailgating me for some dumb reason im wanna see how close they are, atgain, the closer they get the more mouth they get from me and my fingers.

I would do it simply for the novelty. If there's a guy in tall SUV tailgating you he can quite possibly see your nav, and see that you're watching him. That might creep him out.

I understand that in theory it's easy assuming theres a simple wire running from the nav unit components to some other part of the car who's purpose is to report wether the car is in reverse or not, but how would you find that wire? Would it require taking half of the car apart to get to that wire?

it's easy to find that wire.

the first gen tsx did not come with a backup camera.
but many of us put them on anyway.

the car is backup camera ready, and has a dvd nav
unit that is built for the backup camera, the car just didn't have it.

buy the service manual for your car.
then buy the electronic troubleshooting manual as well.

take both to any qualified mechanic that can do wiring and
tell them what you want done. they'll do it fast and easy guaranteed.

if you want your fog lights independent, or if you want any
custom wiring done, all you need is those books and a qualified tech.
the manuals are written and explained so well it's hard to mess it up.

nope they're not.
but neither is the car.

do you want to mod your car?
do you want to work on it yourself?

if you answered yes to either, buy the manuals.
ask any good mechanic.. they'll tell you.
the manuals are worth it.

The service manuals are like $70, that's probably one of the smaller exepnses of such a project.

I guess I could ask a different question...why would you want to put wheels on your car, the ones on there go round and round already...haha

I just think it would be cool, sitting at a light, and you can hit a switch and see whats going on behind you without putting the car in reverse.

I think a bathroom cam would be even more fun, especially in the right one
