Question Replacing Cabin Air Filter.. anybody done it yet?

Dealer wants 160 bucks to replace the cabin air filter. I am like damn the filter costs < $30 bucks and they want how much.

Apparently you got to cut a panel out to replace it and its behind the glove box apparently. I dont know how much of that is truth. Its about time to replace it, i can smell the filter not doing its job.

So where is the darn filter and how do i replace it.

I need to replace the engine airfilter and the cabin air filter, i'd like to do both together if possible. On my old focus it was under the front air intake (take out a panel and pop it out) this car i dont know where it is.

its not hard at all, its right behind the glove box. So take the glove box off and its right there. I was trying to figure out how to replace the footwell lights when I found it.

Do you have a 1st of 2nd Gen? If 2nd...no need to take off the glove box. You will see a panel at the rear of the glove box. Just pull on the 2 tabs (on both sides of the panel) and you will have access to the filter cover... Best of luck..(the dealer should be ashamed of themselves for charging so much for a 10 minute job!!)

Do it yourself dude. This was the first DYI I did and it was a walk in the park.

Where are you located?

I am located in So.Cal (LA - SFV).. Now that I know its such a simple job, the moment I have a few hours to myself I shall change the cabin air as well as the engine air filters.

Do it yourself. I rate it 1 out of 10 in terms of difficulty. I have taken out my cabinh filter to examine it. You'll just need to remove the owner manual shelf first, which snaps off without tools, then slide out the filter tray (also without tools). Harder than the first gen TSX, but just barely, and it will take you at most 15 minutes for the whole job

its easy to change the filter, yo have to open the glove compartment. there are two clips that come out. I did it in our 04 tsx 3 years ago when i was only 15 years old. lol

Similar instructions but a bit different setup.
You don't have to remove the glove box. Just remove the plastic holder.
